New Life for Muslims,
By
This review is from: Healing The Broken Family of Abraham New Life for Muslims (2001 publication) (Paperback)
From the Ministries to Muslims. Four thousand years ago in clustered desert tents festering with rivalry. Abraham banished his slave Hagar and their son Ishmael. Cast aside and embittered, this broken family seemed destined to wander the desert, insignificant and forgotten. But Ishmael grew to father kings and thrives as the cornerston of Muslim identity. This invaluable book will give you insight into Muslim culture and will help you minister to the followers of the world's fastest growing religion.
Your ability to respectfully share Christ's love with Muslims will be strengthened as you read historical accounts and are given practical tools for ministry. You will learn about Muhammed's life and accomplishments and the major divisions that have arisen in Islam. You will discover how to share Christ with the eight major Muslim sects and the theological differences that exist between Islam and Christianity. Finally, you will be encouraged by a call to share the Gospel with Muslims and the hope that "the broken family will be healed by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus."

This review is from: Healing The Broken Family of Abraham New Life for Muslims (2001 publication) (Paperback)
Don McCurry loves Muslim people. He simply does. And his long and faithful life has been dedicated to doing exactly what the title of his book says -- brnging together the chldren of Abraham (and particularly Muslims and Christians), hopingg they will love each other, and helping them to love each other, and demostrating how Jesus is the great hope of all of us. ... McCurry spent decades in Pakistan and continues to travel widely and teach. He has a pastor's heart. He loves people. He cares about Muslim people and really appreciates their culture. His book will challenge your thinking and help you learn and grow. Good stuff!

Healing the Broken Family of Abraham,
This review is from: Healing The Broken Family of Abraham New Life for Muslims (2001 publication) (Paperback)
Don McCurrey's Healing the Broken Family of Abraham: New Life for Muslims takes a redemptive approach toward ministry to Muslims. He desires to bring reconciliation to the sons of Ishmael (Muslims) through Christ. Part Seven: Concerns in Discipling (Bringing Muslims into Abraham's Family) is worth the cost of the book. In this section, McCurrey explains the trauma, cost and objectives of discipling Muslim background believers (MBBs). The community formation (chapter 37) gives a clear call to incorporate MBBs into the worldwide Church. While some of the author's positions are harsh (Should we not face the prospect of persecution head on? p. 328), his caution to ensure MBBs fellowships are incorporated into the Body of Christ is unique and valuable in this arena.
