I have read many books dealing with the subject of personal health care and, generally, feel very overwhelmed and confused by them (and I have a science degree!). Healing Celebrations simplifies all these matters and gives you a do-able approach to managing your health.

There is lot of good information on alternative therapies that can potentially help a lot of poeple (and I thought I was 'knowledgebly advanced on the subject of alternative therapies, but apparently I learned some new things in this book). However, the information given does not have a lot of depth too it, nor is it by any means complete. At only roughly 200 pages long, using mediumish (or large for some poeple) sized typeset, the author only summerizes certain techniques for the reader to help themselves get well. The information is not comprehensive in it's quest to inform the reader about these techniques. Mind you these tecniques seem to be very powerful, and well intentioned and informed. Though there is some important information that I would like to have seen covered in the book (such as the role parasites play in your health. He could have devoted a whole chapter on that and methods to combat them). He also does not go into depth about the technologies that seem to be covered in books and other important materials that can be found on certain websites (such as Dr Hulda's books, or mercola.com's web site and how and why each food, especially carbs, can influence health). Admittedly, the research on some of these subjects is at best incomplete (such as rife technology, and even parasitology). Though only giving it a few paragraphs in the book seems to de-enphase the role these subjects play in a person's health because of the way the book is structured. He also says that there is a difference between 'bad ozone' and 'good ozone'. After doing some research on the web (mind you, I take ozonated water internally), it would seem that there are some potential health effects on the lungs if some of the products that he recommends are used. An air filter, however is a good idea for a place of residence, even though it may not provide more oxygen or ozone into the environment. (http://www.allergybuyersclub.com/compare-air.html is one researce, for example that I use if I ever decide to get an air purifier).
There is also a lot of emphasis on the importance of the Bible and faith in 'God' and it's role in healing the person. This is probably a good thing for those poeple that are Christian and read the bible (which is probably a good percentage of readers). However, as a person who's personally dealt with Huna, magick, and other forms of 'new age' cult type stuff, it could be argued that some of these 'healings' and 'messages' can be explained in other ways (that have nothing to do with christianity). This is only a minor quible, however, as most non-religious people can still use these same techniques for healing. For those that are interested, however, in the pagan beginnings that were used as the base for christianity, they can read: 'The Jesus Conspiracy', and 'Apolonius the Nazarene', and perhaps a few other books.
Despite it's lack of death and incompletenes in it's information, I still highly recommend this book. The reader might get the impression that this is a comprehensive book on how to stay healthy (assuming they still use conventional medicine and common sense as well). And this would be my main criticism of this book. But there is still some information in here that I have not read in any other book and is a good book to follow even if it is incomplete.

I have read many books dealing with the subject of personal health care and, generally, feel very overwhelmed and confused by them (and I have a science degree!). Healing Celebrations simplifies all these matters and gives you a do-able approach to managing your health.

Dr. Horowitz explains complex biological processes in extremely easy-to-understand terms. He doesn't just tell you what you should do, but why you should do it - and that is a great motivator. Very positive, very encouraging - no fear tactics, but if you don't believe that there is a loving Creator who has your best interests at heart, this book is not for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars sensationalism at its best..., September 28, 2005

Where do I begin?

Filled with glaring errors, omissions, and downright inaccuracy, this book pretends to be authentic, don't waste your time or money, instead, look for books well researched, and backed up BY THAT RESEARCH... like "The Whole Soy Story", by Dr. Kaayla Daniel, or "The Great Power-Line Cover-Up", by Paul Brodeur...
