Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Continuing her series based in Hill Creek, TX, Wolverton (For the Love of Mitch) introduces Tessa Stanridge and Drake Slater. Tessa allows Drake, who was injured by a bull on his family's ranch two hours from town, to stay in her home so he can be close to medical care. As Tessa adds Drake to her menagerie of animals she takes care of, Drake questions her about God. In his 40-some years of life, he's never been particularly religious, but something happened when the bull attacked that he needs Tessa's help to understand. Although certain characters would have been better explored through their own books (which may be forthcoming) and one plot point is revealed twice, Wolverton offers a solid addition to for series fans. Recommend to readers of Barbara Jean Hicks.

Schoolteacher Tessa Stranridge needs a means of financial support in order to live in Hill Creek. A friend offers her the solution to her predicament of opening up her home to local accident victim, Drake Slater. Her responsibilities would include attending to his needs and teaching him how to read again. Upon meeting Drake, she is surprised to realize how handsome he is. Before her is a man capable of reeking havoc in her calm, ordinary world.
Drake Slater was gravely injured when he was thrown from his horse and savagely attacked by a raging bull. He relies upon the assistance of Tessa Stranridge in rebuilding his life. Tessa is able to feed his newly-found, spiritual hunger, with knowledge that has been foreign to him for so long. With her calm, tranquil nature, she is the type of medicine he finds himself craving in order to make a successful recovery.
Cheryl Wolverton seems to write with a higher power guiding her pen. Her extensive talent enables the reader to fully appreciate the story as it unfolds. I enjoyed the characters of Tessa and Drake. I found it very memorable that Tessa was able to look past the outward scars that Drake had and concentrate more on healing the inner ones. This book is for anyone that appreciates the treasure that love is capable of providing.

About a rich rancher recovering....in a wheel chair and needing to be closer to hospital moves in with a gal who
volunteers to be a care giver for him.....She has about 21 different animals living on her property...she loves
all of them and people too. Obviously adjustments are needed all around..and as they happen and as Genuine Love
from Our Father is given...Good things happen. The Rancher recovers more that general health but spiritual Health too. I love this book!! I bought it because i had read it before and wanted to reread it and have it on my kindle.
AT this point I cant even remember the names of the characters...but it's a keeper!!!! Steeple Hill Love-Inspired
outdid themselves with this book.

Thogh the books in this series are a bit shorter word-rise than most Love inspired books, they still deliver quite the punch. In this book, we don't really see much of the McCades. They pop up every once in a while, but for the most part it concentrates on thse two characters alone.

They are excellent. Of course we were introduced to Tessa in Book Three when she went out on a date with Mitch. We learned she was a vegerian and an animal lover. We see how much of an animal lover she is in this book...

This was an emotional read. I did have a problem with the end. She had established the effects of her accident early on, then at the end Drake wondered why she couldn't date him...he mentioned what she had confessed earlier, wondering if that was the reason. Then she started with this rough confession. She confessed it over three times before he finally wa slike...oh really? I wasn't sure what the author was trying to do there...

But it was an excellent book. You just gotta love that bull...And the bird, and the rabbit, and the mating turtles, ha ha ha!
