Review

Remy Diederich has done a masterful job of weaving theological and psychological concepts together in a way that makes sense. His concepts ... are easily grasped... I recommend this material to anyone desiring to know how to walk in freedom and truth. Julianne S. Zuehlke, MS. RN, CS,  Co-author with Neil Anderson of Christ-Centered Therapy.

As a Biblical Counselor, I found the "Healing the Hurts of your Past" to be an indispensable reference when it comes to counseling individuals that are struggling with shame. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a pastor, counselor, and leader.  Phil Martinez, Director of Biblical Counseling, Harvest Community Church

From a reader: Your book arrived yesterday and I spent some time skimming through it this morning.  FABULOUS!!!  I normally get bored with books of that nature as they are too academic for me.  That is not the case with your book.  Your personal stories are tremendous!!!!  Thanks for being willing to share yourself with us.

From the Author

I have worked with people over fifteen years in treatment, counseling and church settings to overcome the pain of their shame. It's exciting to see what happens in a person when they finally discover their value apart from their looks or performance. People appreciate my no-nonsense approach that is easily understood in layman's terms. No psycho-babble. No hyper spiritual cliches.  The book is not only content rich but I offer many stories and analogies to help the principles make sense. I'm confident that you will be greatly helped by this book and welcome follow-up email questions.

It will help you to see that God is for you, not shaming as people who don't know God's love try to make you feel.

I would highly recommend this book.

You may have tragic, abusive circumstances in your life that have caused shame. Other people may initially think, like myself, that there haven't been any extraordinary circumstances that can be identified as causes of shame. However, upon reading this book, you'll discover that we all have shame in one form or another, that inhibits us from realizing our true potential and prevents us from having a real relationship with...and surrendering to...God.

If you're expecting to read this book and be immediately healed upon completion, you will be disappointed. No book can accomplish that task.

However, as the author points out, this book plants a seed. As I incorporated the thoughts and ideas from this book into my life, I began to notice small changes. After some time, which would be different for everyone, I noticed significant differences in my relationship with God and how I felt about myself as a person.

The author, Remy Diederich, is the pastor at my church. Each week, I go to services excited to hear what this man has to say. He finds a way to take 2,000 year old passages and make them relevant. Each week he reaches directly into your heart and makes you feel he wrote his sermon specifically tailored to you.

This book is like Remy's sermons. It speaks to your heart and to the core of your relationship with God.

The author states pretty early on that it would be helpful to write things down at certain points. And even tells what those points in the book are. Of course I did NOT do that. But now I find that I want to go back and re-read the book and do just that. Hard to explain, but subcontiously parts of this book brought some personal issues out, and in a good way. If you want to do some helpful self-reflecting, I'd recommend this book.

I've only read the first five chapters because we're using this for a study at church. But what I've
read makes me think this is going to be amazing. We all have hurts. We all need healing from something.

Coming across this text was a God thing for me. After purchasing many books that I used to work myself through a much needed healing process, Healing the Hurts of Your Past kept coming up as possible interest/purchase. After reading the description of the text, I ordered the Kindle version. This has been the best purchase I have made this year. I wish I would have come across it sooner. An extremely good read and very helpful. I would recommend it and have to many of my close friends.

I LOVED the book.. I have actually passed it on to a couple loved ones.. I learned a lot of why I was always a giver and felt everything was my fault when things went wrong.. it also made me realize why a few people in my life act the way they do and there is NOTHING I can do to change that! EXCELLENT READ and learning tool! THANK YOU Remy!

First off this is a Christian book. If you are not a Christian there is plenty of good information here & insights that I'm sure will help you.. but the author is a Christian pastor & social worker and does not hide or disguise that.
This book is well written and in a very readable pleasant style. It deals with traumas and hurts from one's past of all sizes with clarity, kindness & compassion at the same time giving you step by step tools & suggestions so that the individual who is desiring deliverance can get it with God's help. This book presents an excellent balance of scripture & anecdote. It does not "over spiritualize" or go off on weird tangents in a way that some books on "Christian emotional" healing do. Everything the author discusses is backed up by scripture. The book has exercises all the way through so the reader can progress as his/her own pace.
Regardless of your past/present emotional issues this book has answers for you. I would recommend this book for teens on up.. it doesn't matter your age or sex or life circumstance.. many people have wounds, or behavior that stymies them.
If you have a behavior pattern that seems "hopeless" or "unchangeable" it is possible there is an emotional root-- this book will with great tenderness yet firmness help you find if this is the case for you.
This book can help you with God find answers, change & ultimately deliverance & healing. I recommend it to pastors & lay people alike.
This book is well worth it's price. This will be a book I read-- and re-read. Thank you F. Remy Diederich.

I don't think there is anyone who hasn't been hurt by someone's actions or words. What this book shows us is how those hurts often turn into our shame. Diederich teaches us how to identify those hurts, their affect on all aspects of our life, and how by turning to God we can be relieved of these hurts and pains. Shame is a result of how we internalize and process the hurt. "Shame is not about what you have done. Shame is about who you are." So if you or someone you know is looking for relief, the steps outlined in this book will lead to that freedom.

Healing the Hurts of your Past...Simplified is knowing in your heart, head and emotions that you are loved unconditionally by a loving and faithful God. Reading thru the book slowly , absorbing it and going through the exercizes gives you a jumpstart to healing. It will help you to see that God is for you, not shaming as people who don't know God's love try to make you feel.
I know this book has truth. It help's you to see yourself as God see's you whole and perfect in his eyes. Yes as Remy say's in the book we need to have guilt if we have done something wrong but not to continue in shame.
I have lived with this knowlege of God my loving father for many year's and it is very freeing. It also helps you to love other's more unconditionlly too. To see other's from God's perspective and yourself is to me,Heaven on Earth.
The church that Remy leads is a testimony of this book. His messages have and are transforming people's lives. You can tell by the unconditional love that people express to one-another..not only on Sunday but throughout the week.
This book is free on Kindle from December 24 -28th
