5.0 out of 5 stars Practical, powerful suggestions for healing prayer!
"Healing Light" goes straight to the heart of God's healing power. Agnes Sanford was an anointed healer, and she recounts many incidents of God's healing throughout the book. I've read several other good books on the subject, but found hers to be full of fresh thoughts! Her rock solid faith will leave you newly inspired.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Healing Light
The book has a timely message! I first read this book in 1968 and it changed my life. I have used many of the prayer methods and have seen wondrous miracles of healing and transformation. I recently started a book club and the book seemed new all over again. It definitely shows that Jesus is still in the healing business! This author coined the phrase "inner child" and...

5.0 out of 5 stars Stimulating and Inspiring, November 8, 2001
By
Patrick Doherty (Birmingham, Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews
Agnes Sanford has inspired many healing ministries including those of Francis MacNutt, Ruth Carter Stapleton and Jim Glennon.

Her message is clear and scriptually sound. God can work through us if we only let Him. There are certain things we can learn which will help us to seek God's healing love and that is what Agnes Sanford describes in this stimulating book.

5.0 out of 5 stars What should be on a healers bookshelf, May 9, 2004
If you are a healer or want to be healed, these books should help. You may also want to put two of these books in your doctor's hands: The Power of Divine: A Healer's Guide, and Hands of Light. I read many books on various forms of healing, and alternative medicine, and I have found wonderful insights and practical how-to in each of these books.

The Healing Touch: A Guide to Healing Prayer for Yourself and Those You Love--- Norma Dearing, Francis MacNutt

The Power of Divine: A Healer's Guide - Tapping into the Miracle---Tiffany Snow

Hands of Light: Guide to Healing Through the Human Energy Field---Barbara Ann Brennan

Quantum Touch: The Power to Heal---Richard Gordon

Healing Light---Agnes Mary White Sanford

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best To Learn How To Pray With Faith, March 13, 2004
By A Customer
If one wants to learn to pray with faith and belief, put what one learns into practice, and see prayers for the healing of family, friends, and themselves answered, this is the best book I have found. It is not metaphysical, not new age, but as any Jesus baptized Bible student will find, solidly based in Biblical teachings.

Since putting its precepts into practice over 20 years ago, I have had many experiences of being healed and of seeing those I prayed for healed.

I am getting ready to order a new copy. I lend mine out and it doesn't come back. I hope those copies have helped others as much as they have helped me. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Down-to-Earth Approach -- "Healing 101", August 5, 2001
By A Customer
Agnes Sanford's long-time work in the healing ministry makes this book an excellent resource, especially for those newly called to this area of God's work. It was first lent to me by a friend who was very active in the Order of St. Luke the Physician, a healing ministry of clergy, physicians, nurses and laity. It has long been required reading for new members of the Order. I recommend it highly to anyone who is interested in the healing arts as well as the ministry, as it covers a wide range of the subjects and experiences one encounters in this field with a practical down-to earth approach. The author's personal encounters with God's healing and her experience working with others in this ministry are set forth in a quiet, straightforward manner. The book is filled with examples of how God heals and why sometimes healing does not come when or in the way in which one would wish it. She deals not only with the divine healing part of the work, but also with the everyday problems of those who work in the whole spectrum of the healing arts. I recently bought a replacement copy, because mine has been lent out so much, that it's not around when I need it! I'm delighted to see that is still available 25 years later!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best There Is, August 2, 2005

Nothing can compare with this small volume. I've given it as a gift perhaps 30 times in my life. About 20 times its made the difference which allowed the person reading it to receive the blessing of actual healing.

When ever I meet people who wish to be able to pray in this healing way, but wonder how best to get started, I always offer Agnes Sanford as the soundest place to start. This is a life changing book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Needs to be on your shelf, February 13, 2005
I found Agnes Sanford through another author, Tiffany Snow - "The Power of Divine: A Healer's Guide." I will be forever greatful. There are books that need to be read over and over again, and this is one of them. Both of these books bring spirituality home and place it gently in the arms of grace, and in the heart. A must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A "guilt-free" guide for those who were "raised Catholic" or seeking how to receive God's love, January 9, 2010
By
Christine "It is what it is." (FORT WALTON BEACH, FL, United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book "healed" my soul.

As a Southern Catholic who attended a Southern Baptist grade school and CCD on weekends, it is fair to say that as an adult in my late 30's a pervasive form of embedded guilt and fear of God permeates my life. I, like many other non-practicing Catholics, have struggled with the strict doctrine and detached method of our faith. In high school (also Catholic), I saw a glimpse of how "cool" God is through the eyes of a young, energetic priest, who also served as a guidance counselor/youth minister. To him, God's message was not to live a life of guilt, but one full of light and love. This was a new angle on religion, but more so on faith and its power.

This impression fulfilled and strengthened me to face many challenges in my late teens and early 20's with strong faith, not fear. But as life goes, college, boyfriends, career, and other distractions led me away from this inner strength - the solid core, or "inner foundation," so to speak. I no longer tackled life's challenges with God as my "coach," thus leading to many poor decisions, which, in turn, lead to many negative, sometimes devastating consequences. I began buying every book I could find on character, leadership, harnessing emotions, faith, etc., but none resonated the message our priest blessed us with three out of our four years in high school.

I recently met with this priest, who faced many challenges when he made the decision to leave the Catholic faith and pursue a non-celibate yet spiritual life as an Episcopal priest. The goal of our meeting went beyond catching up - I needed his guidance to re-discover my spiritual core, and feel God's love. He loaned me this book, and it has changed my life.

Agnes Sanford's message is so simple and so practical; a formula I'd long been seeking, at a small fortune's cost. By the end of the first chapter I began to feel that inner strength I'd been seeking to re-establish for 20 years. for example, in "Chapter 2: Experiments in Prayer," she provides a rational, four-step guide on how pray for God's healing light and guidance:

1. Put aside your stress and worries and concentrate "upon the reality of God."
2. "Connect with" God through a simple, one sentence prayer seeking His power. (This was news to me. I then realized I'd forgotten how to pray.)
3. "Believe" the connection will come true by accepting it by faith and by "giving thanks" for it NOW coming to pass.(Initially I thought this to be quite demanding of God.)
4. "Observe the operations" of this request by deciding on a "tangible thing we want accomplished by this power."

At first I was uncomfortable with such a rational approach I feared I would offend the saints, Mary, and the Holy Trinity. Laughable, but true. I then followed the steps and I kid you not, saw the tangible result within two hours of my request. I am training myself to apply this method to all things in life. Results have varied, but healing has occurred within me and those around me.

The author expounds this formula in other chapters, introducing various scenarios in which she had to modify her method (and herself) in order to receive God's power (His healing light and love) and to fulfill her request.

I highly recommend this book to anyone: skeptics, those strong in faith, parents, children, non-Christians, Christians of all faiths, but especially those adults who were "raised Catholic" and are now either non-practicing like myself, or are still "practicing" but leave mass empty after mindlessly reciting prayers engraved in their minds from First Holy Communion. I refer to it daily and practice her methods and can honestly say I've been amazed and believe beyond a doubt that I am a child of a God that loves unconditionally and only wants to pass his love through us to others.

May this book bless all who buy it and who benefit from those who learn to connect with God's healing power, serving as a vessel of His love and light.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the First Books on Spiritual Healing that I read, October 14, 2006
By
I read this book over 25 years ago. I liked the biographical quality of the book and it led me to believe that prayer and laying on of hands could channel the healing energy of God through me to others. I remember, inspired by the book, laying my hands on a friend with a headache. He could feel a warm energy and feel the headache gently go away. During that time in my life, I spent time visiting the Pecos Monastary and learned about the healing side of Mystical Christianity. It seems that this is a neglected side of what Jesus taught and shared, something that he expected others to do also, and which seemed integral to his whole message. Somewhere between focusing on saving people and tent revivals, it seems that simply laying on hands and asking to be a channel for the healing light seems to have been lost. I had a chance to hear some cassettes of Agnes Sanford giving some talks on healing. She struck me as a devout Episcopalian Christian who was humble enough to have some humor about herself. She had a cold and a cough during one of her lectures and chuckled that she was not quite healed of this condition. I did find that even then a number of Christians were suspicious that she was too new agey. But in the stories in the book, she cared simply that she was channeling divine love through herself and people were healed. She recounts a story of one lady who, during her healing, felt a warm light fill her with a feeling of being loved. She felt she had awakened from a kind of spiritual asleep and understood what Jesus was talking about. She started devouting herself to the spiritual path, studying the Bible, and taking an active interest in her local church. It suddenly took on an alive meaning for her whereas before she realized she was going through the motions and not feeling much.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Timeless Treasure, October 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got my first copy of this book almost twenty years ago from a friend who was 90 years old and was such a great example in my life. Next to the Bible, it has been the book that has been a healing light in my own life.

Way ahead of her time and other books like The Secret, Agnes Sanford understood how the Kindgom of God works. Her simple words and examples through stories she gives in The Healing Light, are an inspiration no matter what you may be going through.

I buy copies of this book all the time and give it as a gift to encourage others. It is a timeless treasure.
