". . . reveals Taoist secrets for shortening menstruation, reducing cramps, and compressing more chi into the ovaries for greater sexual power. In addition, it teaches the practice of total body orgasm. . . . This is the first book to make this ancient knowledge available to the West." SEXUALITY / RELATIONSHIPS

Healing Love through the Tao reveals the traditional Taoist practices that enable women to cultivate and enhance their sexual energy by transforming it into creative power, healing power, and spiritual power. For thousands of years the sexual principles and techniques presented here were taught by Taoist masters in secret to only a small number of people, sworn to silence, in the royal courts and esoteric circles of China. Healing Love through the Tao is the first book to make this ancient knowledge available to the West.

The foundation of healing love is the cultivation, transformation, and circulation of sexual energy, known as jing. Jing energy is creative, generative energy that is vital for the development of chi (vital life-force energy) and shen (spiritual energy), which enables higher practices of spiritual development. Jing is produced in the sexual organs, and women continually lose this energy through menstruation and child bearing. Mantak Chia teaches powerful techniques developed by Taoist masters for the conservation of jing and how to use it to revitalize women’s physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Among the many benefits conferred by these practices are a reduction in the discomfort caused by menstruation and the ability to attain full-body orgasm.

MANTAK CHIA, a student of several Taoist masters, founded the Universal Healing Tao System in 1979. He has taught and certified tens of thousands of students and instructors from all over the world and tours the United States annually, giving workshops and lectures. He is the director of the Tao Garden Integrative Medicine Health Spa and Resort and the Universal Healing Tao training center in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. He is the author of twenty-five books, including the bestselling The Multi-Orgasmic Woman and Sexual Reflexology.

A spiritual view and method of sexual practice. As a woman who was raped in the past, I wanted to be able to look at sex from a different perspective other than someone's lust. This book doesn't deal with the subject of rape (one should visit a councilor for that), but rather reveals practices and methods for healing and rejuvenating the body through work with herself and also a loving sexual partner. A celibate woman may also benefit from these exercises. Breathing exercise and explicit diagrams are also used. This is esoteric knowledge which for centuries was secret in China. It's a wealth of fabulous knowledge and very helpful. There is a companion book for men as well. Oh, to find a partner trained in this method!

I have been working with this book for a little under a month, and am very happy with the progress I've been making. I totally understand other reviewers' concerns that a subject and method this complex should be taught in person; however, as a person who has been working gently with meditation, yoga, kundalini energy and related methods for roughly ten years, I feel that this book is an appropriate self-teaching tool for myself and others like me.

Moving energy through the body often isn't an easy thing, even for someone experienced with energy/body work. It's something that should be described in detail, as this book does without becoming pedantic. I particularly am appreciative of the recommendation that the reader master one section before moving to the next. I'm still working on the Microcosmic Orbit (Chapter 4), and have not yet progressed to Ovarian Breathing. I would like to go faster, and am at times frustrated, but failure with other methods has shown me that a time-tested and contemplative method such as this one is just the right way for me to go.

This method is working for me, and has worked for countless people since it was first written in 1986. Not only am I experiencing an improvement in the intimate areas of my life, I also am having a much easier time sending energy to a particular spot in my body and sensing energy in others. This is very important to me, as I am currently working toward Reiki II training.

The most wonderful thing of all: this book aims to empower people to enrich the private, sensual moments in their lives, but the benefits of what this author illustrates extend far beyond intimate encounters and into the realm of everyday life. This is wholly expansive and utilitarian material, for the serious seeker of a higher energy and a higher life potential.

In depth refined awareness exercises for women who are serious about getting a deeper sense of the sexual/life stream and its 'home' in the genitals.

Not light reading. You have to practice the exercises for this book to make any real sense.

A must buy if you are into that kind of work and pretty uninteresting if you aren't!

I am so grateful for the author for bringing this information to the West. It is really valuable. I had the book for years and didn't pay much attention to it because I resisted building more sexual energy, as I am single. A misunderstanding that wasted valuable time. In reality, the energy is there anyhow, and the "cultivation" of it is not just about increasing one's effective usage of sexual energy for use in a sexual relationship, but is also about effectively channeling it and re-purposing it for general life force energy to heal and energize the body. The challenges with this book are mostly that there are so many details in the instructions and they actually aren't always clear, despite being very lengthy with many many steps to them. Sometimes the information seems to contradict itself. For example, when he explains ovarian breathing, he talks about having to hold the energy in the perineum or it will leak out of the vagina. He also explains that one must tighten the vaginal muscles. On the next page he says "once you have collected enough energy, repeat the process of bringing energy to the perineum... close your vagina." Isn't it supposed to be held closed or the energy will leak out? So why do we need to close it again? The diagrams are extremely detailed but with so many body parts in one small drawing and all of the crossing lines pointing to the body parts, it is challenging to see what they are referring to. The author also mistakenly call the anus the perineum in a few places in the book. While the muscles of these are attached at several points, they are not the same thing! I highly recommend finding a teacher to help you with this. I don't know too many people who teach this stuff, though.Read more ›

I bought this book, it seemed to be interesting. First he starts with the statement that you should not learn these techniques with this book and search a center. I assumed that he wrote this to avoid liability lawsuits. But reading on I found it very wordy and difficult to follow. I guess all the positive reviews were written by people who actually visited a course. Then I read about the "ovarian breathing" which apparently is a cornerstone of the practises. The descriptions on how to do that are very poorly written and you cannot follow them without visitng a course. The pictures are not better either. How can it be so difficult to explain a breathing technique in simple clear steps with half the words?
Most of us don't have Tao courses nearby or can afford to visit one. If you must visit a course anyway then why should you buy the book?
Maybe google delivers a clearer decription of the techniques, I'll have a try.
