If there were such a genre as progressive horn rock, this would fit the bill.

Healing Of The Lunatic Owl by Brainchild was released in 1970, when bands like Chicago and Blood Sweat And Tears made rock with brass popular around the wold.

What distinguishes Brainchilld from those bands are the art-rock flourishes added to this music.Long chord detours, tricky time changes and extended track lengths rule this album.
yet there is enough blues and rock in the song structures to ground the listener.

The singer's voice is a bit lounge-like here, but that is not a negative, adding to the slightly weird vibe of the record.

In a era where horn rock and prog ruled the world, this band should have been much bigger.
