5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent source of information
This book is well written and easy to read with lots of great information on using clay. I did prefer Ran Knishinsky's The Clay Cure over this book, but this book is still a great resource.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great subject: Not a great book
Clay is a wonderful material and, for those wanting to know more about its properties then there is literature out there that better describe its therapeutic properties. I would avoid this particular book. Clay is a wonderful material and, for those wanting to know more about its properties then there is literature out there that better describe its therapeutic properties. I would avoid this particular book. It offers little in the way of supportive evidence to back up the sometimes outrageous claims, and to my recollection does not include any readily traceable citations. There is some worthwhile material. However, overall, it is a book that appears poorly researched, and it is certainly badly written. While in itself, not perfect, Knishinsky's 'The Clay Cure' is a better read and appears better researched. Engle's 'Wild Health', is a holistic view of medicinal therapies within the animal kingdom, but if you want to know interesting things about clay and how it is used (including by humans) then you might consider this as a well-referenced and worthwhile read. I am sure there are others.

I have always been interested in alternate health products but it's only in the last 12 months that I have become aware of Healing Clays. They have been used for human and animal welfare for thousands of years by indigenous and tribal peoples. Now these clays are back in favour because they are easy to use, effective and environmentally safe. Michel Abehsera's book describes the uses of clay for treating human ailments but the uses are only limited by your imagination. I mix it to a paste with coconut oil and use it on my horses for skin rashes, bites, weepy eyes and as an addition to their feed. I use the same mixture as a toothpaste for myself but I am careful to keep the 2 pots separate! Michel's book is easy to read, and although written in the 70s it is still timely. He does not acknowledge that Australia has excellent healing clays but that's ok. In the 70s they didn't have Google.

This is a very informative book on the natural healing properties of clay. Some of it was a bit over my head but very informative.
