Olive Oil Book is a Godsend!,
By
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Olive Oil: A Complete Guide To Nature's Liquid Gold (Paperback)
The health benefits from using olive oil are beyond amazing. The Healing Powers of Olive Oil has been a Godsend to me. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last year. I cried when I got my blood tests back. My cholesterol and triglycerides we're far above normal. I felt like I was a walking time bomb. Now they've dropped over 100 points and my blood sugar levels are easier to manage. I've begun using the recipes "all with olive oil" in the book. You can even use olive oil in baking healthful goodies! I bought Ms. Orey's other book The Healing Powers of Vinegar. Together these dynamic books are teaching me a new way of eating and living...healthfully!

Informative book on Olive oil,
By Flo Spruance (Paradise, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Olive Oil: A Complete Guide To Nature's Liquid Gold (Paperback)
Cal Orey has written another very informative book. I feel like I finally understand the various types of olive oil I see in many stores. I love the way she summarizes each chapter calling them "The Golden Secrets to Remember." I especially loved the chapters called "Cures from Your Kitchen (30 Ways to Use Olive Oil Remedies)" and "Olive Oil Mania: Using Olive Oil for the Household, Kids, Pets, and Beauty." I plan to visit an olive oil producer mention that is a half hour drive from our home as well as trying some of the recipes that she has included. Until reading this book I had no idea there were so many benefits from olive oil. I look forward to trying the various types in my home. This book is a must for anyone wanting to know more about olive oil.

"The Healing Powers of Olive Oil" is a breakthrough book that can do much more for you than be an aid to cooking. It's jam packed with wit, wisdom, cures, remedies, recipes and more and presented in an easy to understand and informative way. Lowering cholesterol and blood pressure got my attention. If you value your health and the health of your family, you will purchase Cal Orey's book.

Highly recommended!,

This review is from: The Healing Powers of Olive Oil: A Complete Guide To Nature's Liquid Gold (Paperback)
This is a well-written, interesting, and extremely informative book. I've used olive oil before, but never knew much about it. I didn't know the differences between the varieties, only that extra virgin oil costs more, and so it must be better. Cal not only explained the difference between the varieties and how they're made, but also the history of the oil itself, and she does so in such an entertaining way. Neither did I know how heart-and-body healthy it really was. She explains this in detail, and presents numerous ways in which it to gain the most benefit from it, along with a variety of recipes, even how to substitute it for use it in cookies and cakes!
I was also surprised and intrigued to find olive oil has so many possible uses outside of the kitchen, too. Cal gives some excellent ideas, which range from using it as a substitute for those costly body/beauty-care products (who wants to pay $25 for a miniscule jar of wrinkle cream?) to innovative ways to use it around the house. I HIGHLY recommend this book - to anyone who uses olive oil on a regular basis, you will definitely learn something new- but *especially* to those who don't. You have NO idea what you're missing!

Proven Track Record,
By
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Olive Oil: A Complete Guide To Nature's Liquid Gold (Paperback)
Cal Orey has a proven track record with her previous book "The Healing Powers of Vinegar". She delivers alot of necessary information in a fun and memorable manner. It is a pleasure to read and a pleasure to follow. I knew many uses for vinegar, but learned 10 times more from reading her book... so when I read "The Healing Powers of Olive Oil", naturally I followed what she wrote. If you're like me, you thought that olive oil was just for cooking. And, you're selling yourself short on what that little bottle in your pantry can do. Don't hesitate, just order it... RIGHT NOW!!

Finally, someone "gets" it.,
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Olive Oil: A Complete Guide To Nature's Liquid Gold (Paperback)
My family has been in the olive oil industry for decades. We've preached the health benefits of olive oil, but seemed to often fall on deaf ears. Cal Orey offers a huge leap forward in the understanding of the Mediterranean diet and its miraculous effects.
If you have any doubts, take a look at the average consumption of olive oil in Spain and Italy (roughly 13kg per capita per year) compared to the US (0.56kg per capita), then take a look at the rates of heart disease. This book is a must have for anyone who has a desire to live healthier and longer.

Olive Oil is a Super Food You Really Ought to Know More About,
By
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Olive Oil: A Complete Guide to Nature's Liquid Gold (Paperback)
I've not written a book review before (well I don't remember writing one, anyway), but after reading this book I not only decided to write a review, but I also recommend it on our website (http://www.benefits-of-resveratrol.com).
I got it because I was told I ought to eat a spoonful of olive oil everyday as part of my diet. How strange is that diet request? Well I thought I'd better learn something before doing it. This book opened up my eyes to the amazing powers of olive oil. I think I'd do an injustice to the author to give some of it away, but definitely encourage you to learn all that it says AND incorporate it into your life. :-)

Great to Bake With!,
By
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Olive Oil: A Complete Guide To Nature's Liquid Gold (Paperback)
I have been using olive oil for years when I bake. When a recipe called for vegetable oil, I used olive oil. It's healthier and doesn't change the flavor of your recipe but enhances it. Olive oil has been used since the beginning of time, so why change? There's something to say about what we should use and eat from God who created the olive tree. I recommend this book to everyone who wants to be healthy.

olive oil explained,
By
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Olive Oil: A Complete Guide To Nature's Liquid Gold (Paperback)
This book has lots of great tips on what can be done with olive oil. Up 'til now, I've only used it in cooking and for splashing on salads. Very interested to start using it for other things, such as helping my dry hair and softening hands. But of course will also be keeping this book in the kitchen so I can have all the recipes handy! I had not known before that olive oil would be good for baking until reading this book. Every time I pick it up, I find something new in it, so it is worth keeping somewhere it can be often referenced. Definitely a must for someone looking for natural cures and wants to learn more about what olive oil can do!

Dripping With Jewels,

Dripping With Jewels
Cal Orey has done it again. With her effervescent waterfall-like prose, she runs the spectrum of oils and fats, with nutritious foods that can be used with them to maximum benefit. With enough kindling to ignite our collective imaginations, our curiosity is up to attempt the home remedies and household uses of this liquid gem of nature. She also lists and elaborates how Olive Oil can be used to alter the status of undesirable health conditions such as high blood pressure, cancer and high cholesterol. Keeping things positive, she lets us know what else the elixir can do. While her claims are not always absolute, her credibility is. Something as historical and universal as Olive oil must be here for a reason. Managing to turn the mumbo jumbo of fat-speak into plain English, the polyunsaturated, saturated, monounsaturated, is understandible, and our ability to make healthy food choices is strengthened. She makes clear the greek of the Mediterranean diet, and has a plethora of delightful recipes for us to try. The wittiest sections are the Household Uses and remedies, where she has columns; the first being the application of use, the second describing the 'how to' of it, and the third, "Why you'll like it." There's alot to like here. This author has a swiftly moving, infectious pace throughout that entertains and relates as much as it informs. You can learn the historical role of Olive Oil as well, as Orey traces the origins through the bible and the great healers and thinkers of ancient Greek and Roman times. Cal Orey is the one to do this. Her impressive research is generously attributed, so we know exactly where it comes from and can find more on it. Corey is quickly becoming a brand name in what she does best, nutrition and history. Reading this book is a jewel to behold. |
