BABY BOOMER RESCUED,
By
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Vinegar, Revised and Updated (Paperback)
As a member of the aging baby boomer generation I've had to become much more health conscience. I ran across a few articles talking about the benefits of apple cider vinegar and decided to investigate it further. There are a number of books on the subject. Most were written as a cure all and lacked vital pieces of the puzzle. I wanted a book that took an in depth look at how I could treat the residual effects of eating processed foods for years - foods filled with processed sugar, high carbohydrate, and high fat, etc. I found this wonderful book that contains a full spectrum of information I found extremely timely and useful. I started drinking apple cider vinegar on a daily basis - the pounds and inches are melting away. I'm hooked! Moreover, I started to incorporate more of the Mediterranean foods -- fruits and veggies -- into my diet along with healthy smoothies in the morning and nutritious sandwiches at night with a splash of olive oil to keep heart-healthy. I highly recommend this book to people who want to improve their health and overall physical appearance.

The Healing Powers of Vinegar,
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Vinegar, Revised and Updated (Paperback)
I just got this book and it's great. I had a horrible headache when it arrived, tried the apple cider vinegar remedy and started getting immediate relief. It is full of information about the different types of vinegar and how they can help you. The range goes from home cures, household, and tips for pets and kids. The back of the book is full of really good recipes. This is not a skimpy book and it's very easy to read. I highly recommend this book!

Red Wine Vinegar,
By Gary Manuel (Oakland California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Healing Powers Of Vinegar: A Complete Guide to Nature's Most Remarkable Remedy (Ign Green S.) (Paperback)
I was surprised that red wine vinegar has some of the same heart-healthy benefits of red wine. This is of special interest since I don't drink alcoholic drinks. I really like the natural health remedies that were in the book since I believe in natural cures. Great book and and a joy to read.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Vinegar, Revised and Updated (Paperback)
I loved this book. It is well written and I've learned so much about the different kinds of vinegar. Especially great is at the end of each chapter there is a summary called "Important Healing Hints to Remember." Chapter 18 lists 55 Home Cures using vinegar and Chapter 19 lists many ways to use it around your home from cleaning and detoxing, to beauty tips, pets and more. The whole book is full of research and suggestions on how you can use and benefit from the use of versatile vinegar. I can hardly wait to try some of the recipes created by famous spa chefs at the end of the book!

Tell Me Something Good,
By Graham Harris "GHarris" (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Vinegar, Revised and Updated (Paperback)
Sometimes the best things for you are right in front of you. My grandmother and grandfather, who lived to be 95 and 102, respectively, were big fans of apple cider vinegar and used it in everything from coleslaw to home-made cold remedies. It was with a touch of nostalgia and a new-found respect for their wisdom that I read Cal's book and learned even more about the benefits of all kinds of vinegar. Having worked with Cal on another book (The Sky is Falling: A Global Warming Survival Guide), I know firsthand about her attention to detail and the warmth and concern that she brings to any topic. Those qualities help to make this informative, easy-to-read book a valuable addition to your home library. I can pretty much guarantee that this book will not only expand your appreciation for vinegar but also will become a much-used reference source for the many amazing uses of this natural healing liquid.

Excellent book,
By Roseanne Dowell "roseanne" (Parma, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Vinegar, Revised and Updated (Paperback)
Having read articles and hearing about the benefits of vinegar, I was anxious to read this book. Not only does Cal Orey present the benefits and healing power of vinegar, she combines it with the history and definition of vinegar. Her collection of stories and different kinds of vinegars, along with the many treatments, like the prevention of food poisoning, as well as how to make your own flavored vinegar and delicious recipes. Cal treats us to the surprising benefits of a staple almost everyone has on their shelf.
I've heard of wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar and cider vinegar but I never knew about rice vinegar, herbal vinegars or fruit flavored vinegars among others she mentions. I discovered how different vinegars prevent cancer, prevent bone loss, help with weight loss and even help you live longer. This is one book I'm keeping on the shelf next to my cookbooks.

Pot 'o Gold,
By Allison Strong "health journalist" (Florida, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Healing Powers of Vinegar, Revised and Updated (Paperback)
The healing powers of vinegar is humorous, inviting and informational. Cal Orey weaves personal anecdotes and perspectives through a body of endless research, interviews, recipes and remedies so that the book just flows. Suprisingly, the subject matter is practical and light enough to be engaging, while the writer's style involves the reader to keep him riveted. Who ever thought that a book about vinegar could be this entertaining? (Not to mention educational!) Culturally, the current focus on everything 'Green,' make relevant and timely the numerous discussions on the detoxing powers of vinegar. Everyone wants things fresh and nice, yet few realize the harm they may cause themselves with household cleaning products and their runoff. Orey matches much of this conversation with the personal experience of trying to keep a house clean, rid pets of fleas, and as a waitress, to keep an eating establishment free of germs. She writes about the myriad of ways she manages to do this without exposing everyone to harsh chemicals that can cause health problems. Once again, this shared intimacy with the reader about the many aspects of the topic keeps the delivery from being dry. The healing powers of vinegar has been revised and updated to include many more household cures and healthful cooking ideas. The recipe resource alone makes this book a must for anyone trying to improve their cooking. Here are some of the claims bolstered by testimonials and expert opinion gathered together by Orey. Many people are trying to boost their fiber--Vinegar does this. Others are trying to lose weight--vinegar can be applied here as well. Still others claim to have lived many years of good health and have enjoyed the glow of vitality throughout. If you have pets, you can better care for them than you ever thought possible. The book goes on to claim and explain that vinegar's applications also include hair, skin, wound care and keeping a kitchen disposal clean and fresh smelling. Almost all of us have one of those, right? Well, each of us should have a copy of this book as well.
