Book Description

April 1, 1999
This comprehensive guide shows readers how to treat common health problems using a variety of pressure point therapies: acupressure, shiatsu, reflexology, acu-yoga, and trigger-point therapy. For each condition, readers can experiment to discover which of these methods work best for them. Forem offers therapies for more than 65 complaints from acne, arthritis, and weight control to eyestrain, headaches, and impotence.

More than 50 clear illustrations show readers exactly what they need to do. A section of master drawings show the complete array of points and meridians -- the same ones used in acupuncture. Then each section offers simpler drawings illustrating only the specific points needed for the condition being discussed. Concise instructions on pressure techniques accompany the illustrations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book in the field, June 27, 1999
This review is from: Healing with Pressure Point Therapy: Simple, Effective Techniques for Massaging Away More Than 100 Common Ailments (Paperback)
Hooray! Finally, a highly trained expert in the field has written a superb book on acupressure that is head-and-shoulders above all other such books in print. This book provides a beautifully written, easy to understand summary of the basics of Chinese medicine, plus a clear, well illustrated guide to acupressure, shiatsu, and reflexology for almost any disease you can think of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, May 28, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Healing with Pressure Point Therapy: Simple, Effective Techniques for Massaging Away More Than 100 Common Ailments (Paperback)
When I bought this book, I was looking for a book that would teach me how to perform accupressure on myself or others. Jack Forem's book does this, and more: it also covers basic reflexology, Shiatsu, and contains sections with "additional suggestions" to speed recovery. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants something practical about accupressure on their bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "user friendly" guide that belongs on every bookshelf, September 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Healing with Pressure Point Therapy: Simple, Effective Techniques for Massaging Away More Than 100 Common Ailments (Paperback)
This is a complete, well balanced and easy to read guide on the subject. I have used the book's "A to Z" guide several times in the past few weeks to "self treat" localized symptoms. The illustrations make it very easy for anyone to figure out where the important points are. The authors walk you through the whole process step by step. Ahhhhh! Temporary relief from localized pain every time I tried the book's recommendations. And the "energy tune up" section alone is worth the price of the book. There is even a section on beauty secrets! I also found the "additional suggestions" section that follows every topic area particularly helpful. Finally...the perfect holiday season gift for all my achey breaky friends.
