5.0 out of 5 stars Best book in the field
Hooray! Finally, a highly trained expert in the field has written a superb book on acupressure that is head-and-shoulders above all other such books in print. This book provides a beautifully written, easy to understand summary of the basics of Chinese medicine, plus a clear, well illustrated guide to acupressure, shiatsu, and reflexology for almost any disease you can...

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit of this, a bit of that.
This book is targeted on people who are suffering from something and want to do acupressure on themselves. Personally, I was looking for a book about performing acupressure on someone else!
First of all, this book includes Acupressure, Shiatsu, reflexology and a little bit of yoga (Very briefly). For a 386 page book, it is just too many topics to cover, and it's...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, May 28, 2003
By A Customer
When I bought this book, I was looking for a book that would teach me how to perform accupressure on myself or others. Jack Forem's book does this, and more: it also covers basic reflexology, Shiatsu, and contains sections with "additional suggestions" to speed recovery. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants something practical about accupressure on their bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "user friendly" guide that belongs on every bookshelf, September 11, 1999
By A Customer
This is a complete, well balanced and easy to read guide on the subject. I have used the book's "A to Z" guide several times in the past few weeks to "self treat" localized symptoms. The illustrations make it very easy for anyone to figure out where the important points are. The authors walk you through the whole process step by step. Ahhhhh! Temporary relief from localized pain every time I tried the book's recommendations. And the "energy tune up" section alone is worth the price of the book. There is even a section on beauty secrets! I also found the "additional suggestions" section that follows every topic area particularly helpful. Finally...the perfect holiday season gift for all my achey breaky friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Healing Yourself with Pressure Point Therapy, October 10, 2005

This book has helped immensely in the relief of my neck and shoulder pain. I have used accupuncture successfully, however, that is very expensive on a continuous basis. This book has simple to understand diagrams and instructions to follow. The nice part is that I use the book when I need it, not having to wait to see an accupuncturist. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works - an invaluable book for treating daily problems., August 19, 1999
By A Customer
I've read many books on acupressure and other forms of pressure point massage but this book, more than any of the others, has had a profound effect on my health and my relationship with the world around me. It's not just a book on how to, but a guide and teaching tool to live life more fully. I urge everyone to read it. It helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear and concise road map to well-being, July 7, 1999
By A Customer
As a patient of Steve Shimer's I have become I true believer in the power of acupuncture not only because of the relief it has brought from my chronic pain, but because of the general sense of well being I have at the conclusion of each treatment. With this new book, the authors' bring this healing power and sense of well being into the comfort of your home or office, using the techniques of acupressure, reflexology, and shiatsu. I was amazed at the clarity with which the authors were able to express the techniques and points so that they are easy to find and use. Whether you are looking for relief from a common problem or just to feel better all around, you can find what you need in this A to Z road map to well-being.

This book is targeted on people who are suffering from something and want to do acupressure on themselves. Personally, I was looking for a book about performing acupressure on someone else!
First of all, this book includes Acupressure, Shiatsu, reflexology and a little bit of yoga (Very briefly). For a 386 page book, it is just too many topics to cover, and it's understandable that nothing is in depth. Secondly, the pictures are just as brief as the writings. Finally, the A-Z guide covers a lot of topics from Acne to tinnitus to impetance to PMS, it takes up the book from page 78 onwards.
My conclusion is, this book is no where detailed enough for someone who is serious about acupressure, and for someone who wants to do a little acupressure on themself, unless you suffer diseases from A-Z, you'll only find 10 pages of this book useful. Hope this information is more useful than the book.......

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, practical, hands-on book - clear & informative, June 26, 1999
By A Customer
This book is very readable and provides a wealth of practical techniques one can apply for specific ailments, as well as preventative routines. The illustrations are especially clear and leave no doubt as to the actual location of the pressure point to be stimulated for the desired effect. The book provides detailed information about acupressure, reflexology, shiatsu and additional suggestions for each ailment. The "additional suggestions" section associated with each ailment provides practical and specific dietary, exercise, herbal and other recommendations for treating the ailment being discussed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Black & White Drawings, January 23, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The information as far as text (information) is excellent; however, It would be much better if it came with full color pictures instead of simple drawings--which makes the points hard to find.

A much better approach (with full color [real] pictures) is:
*****ACUPRESSURE -Naturally Better. By: Carola Beresford Cooke, Peter Albright.

It gets to the point--literally speaking--without so much unnecessary explanation. By the way, I found out about this book through somebody else's previous review (on this book).
