Sealed Orders,
By Fiona Mackintosh (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Healing the Purpose of Your Life (Paperback)
This book was recommended to me by my godmother. My faith background was strongly scriptural but lacked meaning. This book has enabled me to connect with a sense of purpose and life that each of us shares a special connection with God. That He created us with a specific purpose and gave us gifts to enable us to engage in our mission for Him. That He placed His Great Seal on those orders and sent us to earth. This book enabled me to look at the work that I do with a greater understanding of why I find it so spiritually draining even though I am "good at it" in the natural. Thank you Dennis, Matthew and Sheila for sharing God's words and helping us all remember why we are here.

I loved this book - it uses a nice story telling approach to demonstrating a non-literal approach to looking at your life's purpose - avoids some of the more formal and less humanistic approaches to looking at life - great read when you are looking to bring back humanity into your life's purpose.

THIS is the orginal: if you are seeking a refined, self-guided, well-written-to-provoke-you aid to help you define your 'reason for being', this is the best I've seen. I have bought it for several friends, and have suggested it to therapy clients. All because, 10 years ago, I found it and used it for myself. I remain grateful.
This book is well done, quite pleasant in its writing. The three authors, brothers Linn and the wife of one, share their voices throughout. You don't feel like you are merely reading, but being involved in a thoughtful conversation. At the end of each section/chapter, there are steps to do to consider and integrate the conversations into your own thought process. I recommend you consider getting a note book to jot down your responses. Or write in the book and keep it private. (I have my own private copy, and always keep another un-touched for others to peruse when I tell them about it.) I also enjoy this for group work. I have used it once it its entirety (their is a section on how to do this at the end of the book). But it is also excellent for starting conversations about what matters most to you, helping yourself or others discover roadblocks to becoming, getting past times of discouragement and becoming okay with a joyful, successful life.

Too simplistic,

I couldn't make it past the first three pages of this book. It was too corny for me. I didn't feel healed at all. Pretty picture, though.
