Heal the World, December 26, 2000
This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
My journey began in August 1999, with the reading of "Conversations With God". I visited the website, and found Dahn Hak as a way to heal my physical body (I had been suffering with Fibromyalgia for over 3 years). Not only did my body heal in 3 months, but I could also feel my mind and spirit also getting stronger. I have decided to devote my life to teaching Dahn Hak, and in a few months will achieve the title of Master. All of my life, I have wanted to be a healer, and tried to pursue a career in medicine. Now I know that it is through this path that I will be able to heal not only individuals, but be able to "heal the world". When my Master gave me this as my mission in life, I rolled my eyes, and thought "oh yeah, sure!" but now I know this is possible, and this is true. Dahnhak is an incredibly simple and joyful way to achieve peace and happiness. You don't have to know God in order to experience the benefits. All one has to do is follow along with a sincere desire to get better. Grandmaster Lee recently gave a lecture on his new book here in Hawaii (the FIRST ever about this book in the US!) and he impressed on our minds that "Consciousness is Energy"... and he showed us the map of consciousness, the roadmap to Enlightenment. As our energy level is raised, so too is our consciousness level. When we achieve a certain level of consciousness (a level that cannot be reached through mere scientific thinking or religious devotion), then we can become "New Humans", and be able to pull others up out of slave consciousness. Dr. Lee offers a concrete plan, a way of DOING something that will create miracles. It is not just pie-in-the-sky wishing for world peace that will bring this about. It is not just thinking or prayer that will bring this about. It is not just through speaking or lecturing that will bring this about. It is only through training and action and experience that this will happen. My vision is that many small bright lights (New Humans) will come together to form ONE grand bright light that will illumine the world -- this light will be called the Spiritual UN (SUN). Many different schools are opening up as a way to achieve Enlightenment. Dahnhak is not the only way, it is just another way. The many people traveling these paths will someday join together to create the SUN, and the world will be healed. I encourage everyone to read this book. If you truly care about the future, this is one way of being able to make a difference even with your busy and stressful life. Aloha from Hawaii, where one day, there will be a large retreat center and healing park, called the Hawaii SUN Institute!

You will have a happy face!, March 4, 2001
This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
I suppose I am as susceptible to self-help books as the next overeducated, underemployed consumer with a lifetime research in the latest feel good trend. But this is something different. This little book and the movement it represents, called DahnHak, have shaken me to my not-so-flexible toes, and set me down gently on a path of beauty, joy, harmony and pure delight- more so than any of the many popular movements toward holistic health that I've investigated in my more than five decades of guarded research. Those movements have included, over years, psychotherapy, peer counseling, yoga, TM, Gurdjieff, Gestalt therapy, Tai-Chi and Feldenkreis, plus of course the more run-of -the -mill adventures like book groups, aerobic exercise and long walks on the forest preserves. Not Prozac, though it has crossed my mind. But now that I've discovered Dahn Hak, I'm not thinking of it any more. From my first introductory class and one-on-one introductory "energy balancing session" five months ago, I felt that these gentle, humorous and open people who were teaching Dr.Lee's system knew something I didn't, and I definitely wanted to learn more about it. I walked into the class in the suburban mall a victim of my usual mildly debilitating collection of chronic complaints-ranging from insomnia to heartburn to muscle cramps to headaches and so forth. I walked out after a blissful hour eager to return. And the more I have found out, the more I want to find out. This is not like me. I am by natural a cynical, restless soul with a rather nervous disposition easily dissatisfied. With Dahn Hak I keep pinching myself, wondering when the honeymoon will end. Let's just say it hasn't shown any sign of ending in these six months. And from the people I've met who've been practicing Dahn Hak for years- whose numbers I hope to join- I see something unusually impressive: an aura of unpretentious simplicity and a depth of intelligence, energetic and fit bodies and a glow of health that can't be faked. Dr. Seung Heun Lee's 'Healing Society: A prescription for Global Enlightenment' is worth buying, worth reading, and worth studying. The simple, pleasant, easy exercises and meditations he has put together, are based, he tells us, on an ancient Korean system and updated for contemporary times. Amazingly, they work. For myself, I've never felt so consistently good: balanced, lively, energized and just generally happy with my day to day life, and full of the most delicious sense that there's more and better just down the road. Gone is the dismal pack of annoying ailments and dysfunctional habits I used to cart around: I'm light footed and free (plus, I'm losing weight!) It's just as Master Shim said when I began to recite a litany of too-familiar sentence. " You will have a happy face." I shake my head in wonderment.

What A Book!, December 19, 2000
This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
I have been a student of Dahn Hak for about nine months. About every two weeks I make the claim that now I have begun the practice of Dahn Hak because of revelations regarding my body, mind, and spirit. These revelations result in my creating life altering practices that bring a lot of benefit to those around me and myself. During the nine months that I have studied Dahn Hak, I have recovered my health, emotional balance, and have begun to create a vision for my life. It has not been easy because of course there has been physical pain, emotional growth, and spiritual awakenings. About two weeks ago I bought "Healing Society" on the suggestion of the Head Master of the Dahn Center that I practice at. The book found a comfortable resting place in my backpack for several days. Upon my arrival home one late evening I figured that reading the book was a better option than watching television or making my restless mind drif off to sleep. I was surprised that the book was only about a hundred pages. My mind was really curious as to how a prescription to heal this society could be contained in such a small book that I didn't even need my glasses to read. I settled onto the couch with a hot cup of tea, put my feet up and began to read. Boy, was I surprised! I consumed several chapters in the throes of relaxed excitement. It was if Dr. Lee was sitting with me and we were having a conversation. Thoughts came up in my mind that reflected my own life experiences and answered the questions that Dr. Lee posed. The language of the book was very comfortable and familiar because it sounded like thoughts and experiences I have had over the course of my lifetime, right down to the inflection of the writing. The biggest one thing is that Dr. Lee offers the sharing of his own transformation and solutions. I finished reading the book over coffee the next morning. Endless thoughts about my life and my desires to contribute to this world ran through my mind for the next day. Crystal clear as a sunny day came the list of complaints, ego driven thoughts, and fears that I would need to give up in order to walk the pathway of achieving my desires. I came back to "Healing Society" again, reading a chapter a day as a matter of study. There are many remarkable revelations that I have awakened to. I could write a book about this book and I will one day. I do want to share one revelation and operative practice that has altered my life. One of the most amazing qualities that each one of the Dahn Hak Masters possesses is an extraordinary way of being conscientious all of the time. No matter how much I have wanted to just be this way it seemed that I just could not get access to just being that way. The quick judgmental nature of my mind would come ahead of my desire to be conscientious without thought. I was reading a part in the book where Dr. Lee describes what a New Human is. Like a lightening bolt it hits me that as a child I was trained to be conscientious. When I became an adult I filtered this way of being through what my mind calls entitlement; who is worthy of deserving this way of being from me. This filter shifted my view of life, had me be cynical, took up a lot my energy, and short-circuited countless opportunities for me to make a difference. What was truly alarming is how transparent this filter was in my mind. Once seeing the truth of how I had been, I got rid of the entitlement filter like a bad date that made me pay for dinner, the movies, and cab fare. Once returning to peaceful guidance of my youth; kindness, consideration, letting others go ahead of me, smiling, and listening (the real kind where the mind is quiet) came as natural as breathing. Yes, I fully recommend "Healing Society" for anyone who has bumped up against "materialism isn't everything and maybe there is more that I want to experience." Reading this book has enhanced my awakening and the study of this book is opening up my life.
