3.0 out of 5 stars Enlightenment Is Attainable`
This book is a fast read that summarizes important points of what enlightenment is. What he says clearly isn't new, but is stated in a very readable fashion.

It is good to read that enlightenment is attainable and not something which we can look forward to attaining in our next 100 births. In Buddhism it is said that we should attain enlightenment quickly, quickly in...

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
My journey began in August 1999, with the reading of "Conversations With God". I visited the website, and found Dahn Hak as a way to heal my physical body (I had been suffering with Fibromyalgia for over 3 years). Not only did my body heal in 3 months, but I could also feel my mind and spirit also getting stronger. I have decided to devote my life to teaching Dahn Hak, and in a few months will achieve the title of Master. All of my life, I have wanted to be a healer, and tried to pursue a career in medicine. Now I know that it is through this path that I will be able to heal not only individuals, but be able to "heal the world". When my Master gave me this as my mission in life, I rolled my eyes, and thought "oh yeah, sure!" but now I know this is possible, and this is true.

Dahnhak is an incredibly simple and joyful way to achieve peace and happiness. You don't have to know God in order to experience the benefits. All one has to do is follow along with a sincere desire to get better.

Grandmaster Lee recently gave a lecture on his new book here in Hawaii (the FIRST ever about this book in the US!) and he impressed on our minds that "Consciousness is Energy"... and he showed us the map of consciousness, the roadmap to Enlightenment. As our energy level is raised, so too is our consciousness level. When we achieve a certain level of consciousness (a level that cannot be reached through mere scientific thinking or religious devotion), then we can become "New Humans", and be able to pull others up out of slave consciousness.

Dr. Lee offers a concrete plan, a way of DOING something that will create miracles. It is not just pie-in-the-sky wishing for world peace that will bring this about. It is not just thinking or prayer that will bring this about. It is not just through speaking or lecturing that will bring this about. It is only through training and action and experience that this will happen.

My vision is that many small bright lights (New Humans) will come together to form ONE grand bright light that will illumine the world -- this light will be called the Spiritual UN (SUN). Many different schools are opening up as a way to achieve Enlightenment. Dahnhak is not the only way, it is just another way. The many people traveling these paths will someday join together to create the SUN, and the world will be healed.

I encourage everyone to read this book. If you truly care about the future, this is one way of being able to make a difference even with your busy and stressful life.

Aloha from Hawaii, where one day, there will be a large retreat center and healing park, called the Hawaii SUN Institute!

5.0 out of 5 stars You will have a happy face!, March 4, 2001
This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
I suppose I am as susceptible to self-help books as the next overeducated, underemployed consumer with a lifetime research in the latest feel good trend. But this is something different. This little book and the movement it represents, called DahnHak, have shaken me to my not-so-flexible toes, and set me down gently on a path of beauty, joy, harmony and pure delight- more so than any of the many popular movements toward holistic health that I've investigated in my more than five decades of guarded research. Those movements have included, over years, psychotherapy, peer counseling, yoga, TM, Gurdjieff, Gestalt therapy, Tai-Chi and Feldenkreis, plus of course the more run-of -the -mill adventures like book groups, aerobic exercise and long walks on the forest preserves. Not Prozac, though it has crossed my mind. But now that I've discovered Dahn Hak, I'm not thinking of it any more.

From my first introductory class and one-on-one introductory "energy balancing session" five months ago, I felt that these gentle, humorous and open people who were teaching Dr.Lee's system knew something I didn't, and I definitely wanted to learn more about it. I walked into the class in the suburban mall a victim of my usual mildly debilitating collection of chronic complaints-ranging from insomnia to heartburn to muscle cramps to headaches and so forth. I walked out after a blissful hour eager to return. And the more I have found out, the more I want to find out. This is not like me. I am by natural a cynical, restless soul with a rather nervous disposition easily dissatisfied. With Dahn Hak I keep pinching myself, wondering when the honeymoon will end. Let's just say it hasn't shown any sign of ending in these six months. And from the people I've met who've been practicing Dahn Hak for years- whose numbers I hope to join- I see something unusually impressive: an aura of unpretentious simplicity and a depth of intelligence, energetic and fit bodies and a glow of health that can't be faked.

Dr. Seung Heun Lee's 'Healing Society: A prescription for Global Enlightenment' is worth buying, worth reading, and worth studying. The simple, pleasant, easy exercises and meditations he has put together, are based, he tells us, on an ancient Korean system and updated for contemporary times. Amazingly, they work. For myself, I've never felt so consistently good: balanced, lively, energized and just generally happy with my day to day life, and full of the most delicious sense that there's more and better just down the road. Gone is the dismal pack of annoying ailments and dysfunctional habits I used to cart around: I'm light footed and free (plus, I'm losing weight!) It's just as Master Shim said when I began to recite a litany of too-familiar sentence. " You will have a happy face." I shake my head in wonderment.

5.0 out of 5 stars What A Book!, December 19, 2000
By
Carolyn (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
I have been a student of Dahn Hak for about nine months. About every two weeks I make the claim that now I have begun the practice of Dahn Hak because of revelations regarding my body, mind, and spirit. These revelations result in my creating life altering practices that bring a lot of benefit to those around me and myself. During the nine months that I have studied Dahn Hak, I have recovered my health, emotional balance, and have begun to create a vision for my life. It has not been easy because of course there has been physical pain, emotional growth, and spiritual awakenings.

About two weeks ago I bought "Healing Society" on the suggestion of the Head Master of the Dahn Center that I practice at. The book found a comfortable resting place in my backpack for several days. Upon my arrival home one late evening I figured that reading the book was a better option than watching television or making my restless mind drif off to sleep. I was surprised that the book was only about a hundred pages. My mind was really curious as to how a prescription to heal this society could be contained in such a small book that I didn't even need my glasses to read. I settled onto the couch with a hot cup of tea, put my feet up and began to read. Boy, was I surprised!

I consumed several chapters in the throes of relaxed excitement. It was if Dr. Lee was sitting with me and we were having a conversation. Thoughts came up in my mind that reflected my own life experiences and answered the questions that Dr. Lee posed. The language of the book was very comfortable and familiar because it sounded like thoughts and experiences I have had over the course of my lifetime, right down to the inflection of the writing. The biggest one thing is that Dr. Lee offers the sharing of his own transformation and solutions. I finished reading the book over coffee the next morning. Endless thoughts about my life and my desires to contribute to this world ran through my mind for the next day. Crystal clear as a sunny day came the list of complaints, ego driven thoughts, and fears that I would need to give up in order to walk the pathway of achieving my desires. I came back to "Healing Society" again, reading a chapter a day as a matter of study.

There are many remarkable revelations that I have awakened to. I could write a book about this book and I will one day. I do want to share one revelation and operative practice that has altered my life. One of the most amazing qualities that each one of the Dahn Hak Masters possesses is an extraordinary way of being conscientious all of the time. No matter how much I have wanted to just be this way it seemed that I just could not get access to just being that way. The quick judgmental nature of my mind would come ahead of my desire to be conscientious without thought. I was reading a part in the book where Dr. Lee describes what a New Human is. Like a lightening bolt it hits me that as a child I was trained to be conscientious. When I became an adult I filtered this way of being through what my mind calls entitlement; who is worthy of deserving this way of being from me. This filter shifted my view of life, had me be cynical, took up a lot my energy, and short-circuited countless opportunities for me to make a difference. What was truly alarming is how transparent this filter was in my mind. Once seeing the truth of how I had been, I got rid of the entitlement filter like a bad date that made me pay for dinner, the movies, and cab fare. Once returning to peaceful guidance of my youth; kindness, consideration, letting others go ahead of me, smiling, and listening (the real kind where the mind is quiet) came as natural as breathing.

Yes, I fully recommend "Healing Society" for anyone who has bumped up against "materialism isn't everything and maybe there is more that I want to experience." Reading this book has enhanced my awakening and the study of this book is opening up my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breath of fresh wisdom from the East..., December 7, 2000

This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
With over 3 million practioners of his body, mind, and spirit holistic exercise system, it's about time that Dr. Seung Heun Lee has a book out in the USA written in English for the USA market. Although brief, the book outlines his personal story of enlightenment and philosophy in simple yet profound tones. The most interesting theme of the book is how Dr. Lee treats enlightenment in the vernacular, as an everyday goal able to be attained by anyone. He also represents enlightenment in terms of changes to specific brain structures, which was also very interesting. This book is not just for the "Spirituality" crowd but a must for anyone looking for an interesting reading...

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading "Healing Society", December 14, 2000
By
This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
I feel a beautiful sadness that I feel every time when the last page of the book that profoundly impressed me, has been already read. One hundred pages of a precious script, several hours of an enlightened happiness, full of great discoveries, both of the captivating incredible personality of the author and his simple but profound messages, of the flawless theory, of the clear and powerful prescriptions for an action, have passed, lifting me on the highest level of inspiration. I've read several books by Dr. Seung Heun Lee, and all of them are the must-read books. Each of these books is a priceless gift to a reader, but this one is especially precious. This is not only because it presents in a complete form the author's vision of the world and our humans' crucial role in its fate, not only because it shows the path in his/her life to everyone who wants to find it, not only because it clearly calls for the very important action explicitly explained, not only because it gives us, mankind, a hope to survive in this acceleratingly changing world, a hope to save us from our own blindness, but also because every reader meets the author as a real unique personality. I see a significant sign of the growing spiritual maturity of the humanity in the fact that he is recognized as one of the 50 spiritual leaders of the world. Dr. Seung Heun Lee began his leader's way from scratch, from zero, 15 years ago, during which he has accomplished impossible, integrating the profound wisdom of the Korean traditional teaching into the swiftly changing and extremely complicated, highly controversial and diverse contemporary world, creating the whole philosophical system of views, the efficient methodology of training, the clear protocol for the urgently needed action. If one wants to explore the wonderful spiritual world of Dr. Seung Heun Lee, if one wants to discover his/her own inner power, the best way to do so is reading "Healing Society". The book takes us to a wonderful journey to our roots, to our childhood, when we were pure-hearted and felt sometimes what the grown-up person forgot, under the pressure of a fuss and a struggle of everyday life. When reading the authors recollection about his childhood, I've recalled my own early experience, and it was a self-discovery. The author's logic and reasoning are perfect. For example, what can be the better confirmation of the Oneness that the remarkable coincidence of the story of the creation in the Korean tradition and from the Bible? The really enlightened people created this stories independently for various nations. In terms of Dr. Seung Heun Lee, these stories came from the same source, from the Creator Within. I am an environmentalist in my profession and I feel so happy that the "Healing Society" is available for reading to everyone today. Not only scientists, but almost everyone knows today about the global warming and its proven consequences, about the contamination of waters and soils. This is a tremendous progress yet insufficient to save the planet. Even disappeared from the face of the Earth Aral sea did not cause the proper action. Even the Chernobyl catastrophe has been pretty much forgotten in few years. Yes, it is possible to preserve our Biosphere, to prevent contamination, to keep our air clean. But we need a real Spiritual revolution for that. I felt very happy when several years ago I read that the power of the Krakatau volcano eruption was still an order of magnitude higher than if we will collect all the weapons, nuclear and traditional, and blow them all up at once. Thanks God, the Nature is still more powerful than us. But with an incredibly accelerating growth of the technologies, we can easily catch up soon. This would mean our irreversible self-destruction. We still have some time, the time for the Spiritual revolution, which is the only thing that can save us and our planet. As an environmentalist, I can agree with Dr. Seung Heun Lee's estimation, about 10 years, hardly more. I am a mathematician in my basic training, and my specialty is ecological, biological, soil etc data analysis, modeling, and prediction, as a professional in this field I am very impressed with this estimation. My native city of Grozny in Chechnya is completely destroyed. It fell a victim of the struggle for the material wealth between Russian newly growing wealthy and powerful ones. It also fell a victim of the struggle for the power between some Chechens. Chechen people who were just living and working on their land, are mostly in refugee camps, suffering enormously of cold, hunger, and meaningless killings by Russian soldiers. In turn, Russian young guys are dying in Chechnya. There are voices in the world calling for the action, but only few hear these voices. Isn't it the most profound proof of the urgent necessity for the Spiritual revolution? Every day I bow "gam-sa-ham-ni-da", before my Teachers and Masters Oh Bohwa and Choi Y. Sook in our Beltsville Dahn Hak Center in Maryland. These two young, deeply devoted, beautiful, enlightened people who take into their bottomless hearts all the pains, both physical and emotional, of our members, turn them into our strengths and power to live and work in this world, teach us to develop our spirituality. From the moment I cross the threshold of the Center, I am happy. Every day I take with me to the outside world enough of this happiness to be rich of it till the next class, trying to generously share it with others. That is why, with all my heart, I am a proud member of Dahn Hak, for the rest of my life. I believe firmly that everyone who will read the "Healing Society" will gain a lot for his/her body, for his/her mind, for his/her spirituality, even if not self-discovered yet. The Book of the Future it is, the Book of the Hope, the Book of the Action.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let's think again, December 30, 2000

This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
We live in a world where efficiency and materialistic prosperity are the best virtue; the driving force is endless competition. As indicated in the book, "the competition is self-sustaining and spirals upward until everyone is eventually a loser." There have been a great numbers of trials, including ideological and religious methods to make the world into Utopia, but none of them have been successful as they could not go beyond the paradigm of competition. This book suggests how we can systematically achieve a harmonious and peaceful world instead of rushing into the total destruction of humanity. As a scientist, I experienced a thunderbolt reading this book and had a good chance to look back on the goals of my life. The true value of a person depends on his/her positive contribution to society, not on his/her ability or talent itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars A remedy for society, January 1, 2001
By
This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
Dr. Lee's book describes beautifully the current state of our society. We've all become so intoxicated with our bodies, spending so much time in the gym not realizing the key to happiness is not more muscle, running more miles or flatter stomachs but by understanding our true spiritual nature. Dr. Lee outlines in his book a remedy for our current social ills.. a way to release us from our fears and anxieties by embracing the philosophies prescribed for us by all the sages before him.. that is to realize that our nature is based on love and service to our fellowman.. a very encouraging book that inspires the reader to join this global movement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soul Call, January 4, 2001

This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
Read this book and your soul will be happy, for it is a direct connect to the deepest aspirations of the human soul! Dr. Seung Heun Lee speaks through the pages with the innocence of a child and the wisdom of an ancient one. The message is clear and simple - if we humans are to survive and fulfill our destiny in the new millenium we must collectively shift to a higher level of consciousness. What is unique and especially inspiring about this book is that it is made crystal clear what the fundamental problem is and how we can individually and collectively become the solution: we must become enlightened! Enlightenment is, at last, taken out of the realm of mysticism and godlike attributes attainable only by a chosen few (and for the rest of us, a state in someone else to be worshipped and revered). The paradigm has changed. Enlightenment is a CHOICE, and a choice that everyone has the capability to make. It is also a necessity if we are to continue to inhabit this earth. This book will cause you to ask the most essential questions, "Who am I?", "Where did I come from and where am I going?" and "What is the purpose of my life?" It will give you the key to unlock the answers to the questions of your soul. It is a must read for all `cultural creatives' and anyone who wants to be a creator of a healthy, balanced and peaceful global society where all people, the earth and all creatures are respected equally.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Inspiring proposal, January 29, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Healing Society: A Prescription for Global Enlightenment (Walsch Book) (Paperback)
In his new book "Healing Society", Dr.Lee seeks to illumunate the pathway to one's spiritual nature, thereby experiencing oneness with all of humanity and the great cosmic universe. His DahnHak program proposes that each individual is to first achieve physical and mental health and improve their energy balance. Dr.Lee explains these ideas in his book in a positive and encouraging manner that is direct, understandable and in an easy to read and enjoyable format. Instead of trying to solve problems only by war or violence, we must bring on a new wave of understaning, or mass enlightenment, and learn to love unconditionally to create a lasting world peace. Dr.Lee talks about losing touch with one's True Self, who is naturally divine and give us health, happiness, and joy, instead of hate, fear, anxiousness, struggle, and conflict. Listening to our heart and soul will lead to trust and harmony. Using the Ki-energy that surrounds and is available to us, and using Brain Respiration as a training tool, enlightenment can be achieved. An "Enlightenment Revolution" through a Spiritual-Cultural Movement is Dr. Lee's inspiring proposal to start up our collective human consciousness.

Today¡¯s Society has many Problems, but at last we now have a new way of healing all of what ails mother earth and her People. We can see everything through Dr.Lee's 'Healing Society'. It is a way for us to stop the suffering and realize that in your heart is all of heaven. That your true essence has a powerful voice that lies within. That you possess a power that calls out to you through your body and you can learn to listen to it. I think that if we all follow this simple yet powerful principle for living we will go together to a new way of living in a new world full of harmony, love and energy.

I truly enjoyed reading this book and I know many of my questions for living with myself in harmony and living comfortably with those around me were answered. The world is getting smaller, but I know now that my Consciousness and mind will help it become much bigger place for each of us.
