Alkire has combined all the best elements of her previous books into this one guide. I become uplifted from reading others' stories of healing. Accompanying each are thoughts about developing our own faith life and enriching our relationship with Christ, so I find this book useful and inspirational.

Alkire's best work to date. An easy-to-read, ecumenical book with practical applications. There are real stories and examples that just about anyone can identify and relate to. A real "Chicken Soup for the Healing Soul" if you will, minus the fluffy commericialism.

Jan Alkire has written a book filled with inspirations and openings to the grace of God at work in our lives. So refreshing to find a book that doesn't limit God's healing to a few meager ways. It's a book I can pick up and use whenever I have a moment of solitude. Some chapters speak more clearly to me in the way I meet God, and some offer an opening, an awareness to how I might also find God if I broaden my horizons. It is truly a gem and would be a blessing to anyone who truly desires to see where God's grace is already at work in their lives... right where they are.

First: Jan Alkire is a skilled writer who knows how to handle the English language. She writes both to the reader's intellect and emotions.
Then: this book has a multiple approach to healing, thus making it useful to a multiple audience. Her stories illustrate definite points that are useful. She deals with multiple aspects of healing, including medical and prayer, with all the ways of using each. What she is after is becoming healed - not a religious agenda of her own. Healing, for Ms. Alkire, is a state of being healthy in four areas: physical, emotional, spiritual and relational. This book provides avenues to achieve just that.

I have found Jan Alkire's book to be a great source of healing; spiritually, emotionally and physically. Through the pages of this simple, down to earth book I have learned different and exciting new ways to pray - for myself as well as others. The pages are filled with life experiences and practical suggestions about finding new ways in which to approach God. The "For You" section which follows each chapter gives invitational and instructive ways to our own healing. Overall, I found this book to be thought provoking, invitational, and easy to follow and apply.

Alkire has written a very well organized and useful book which inspires the reader toward enhanced health and a closer relationship with God. An interesting read, with excellent real-life stories to enliven and underscore the author's points. Each chapter ends with "For You"; pragmatic take-aways which inspire readers to "get going" on their physical and spiritual health.
