About the Author
Amira is an energetic Activities Professional, with thirteen years experience, who is dedicated to the advancement of non-drug therapy for Alzheimer's disease and other dementia disorders. Providing therapeutic activities for over 900 people suffering with Alzheimer's Disease has given her an opportunity to develop activities that are successful at any stage of dementia. A degree in management of human resources, with extensive studies in gerontology provided the essential background needed to develop a successful program. Amira has shared her techniques with other professionals through caregiver training sessions and workshops, and provided training for hospice care volunteers. Amira's most recent contribution to helping those affected by Alzheimer's Disease is authoring a book, "Healing The Wounds of Alzheimer's Disease".
Amira is a Nationally Certified Activities Consultant, member of the Michigan Association of Activities Professionals, the National Association of Activities Professionals, and a member of the Detroit Chapter of Alzheimer's Association. Her techniques have gained trust and respect from her peers, the medical community, and most importantly, those she has helped to return a sense of respect and dignity to their lives - the Alzheimer's disease victims.
