The touch of healing,
By Fabien (Shah Alam, Selangor D.E. Malaysia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Healing Victims of Sexual Abuse (Paperback)
Paula Sanford had made extensive work on practicalspiritual Healing Victims of Sexual Abuse. This is what most victims need in guidance of spiritual healing which they suffered in silent and drowning without help. I find the approach to be excellent in adopting the Word of God in the healing process. The touch of healing in submission to Christ and God's Word and in prayers are just a beginning to make a victim of Sexual Abuse whole again.I would recommend this book to any victims of SA who need answers for their sufferings or counselors in ministering victims on the journey to recovery and wholeness again.

Transforming Stories of Turning Tragedy to Triumph,
By
This review is from: Healing Victims Of Sexual Abuse: How to counsel and minister to hearts wounded by abuse (Paperback)
Well known author and prayer minister Paula Sandford provides the reader with ways to deal with the guilt, shame, and confusion after becoming the victim of sexual abuse. "Healing for Victims of Sexual Abuse" is written to provide help to all of those concerned about the problems surrounding sexual abuse so that they may gain a greater understanding of and empathy for the victims of abuse, (the abused, their loved ones, and the abuser himself).
Sandford draws on her training, her counseling and ministry experiences in inner healing and restoration as well as from the trauma of an incident within their own family in the writing of this book. I personally was encouraged, inspired, and challenged by Sanford's responses to the letters and reports regarding the most common errors in ministry to the abused. I found her suggestions on how to counsel and minister to the hearts of those wounded by abuse especially helpful and insightful. Paula offers a message of hope and healing, understanding and love, acceptance and fulfillment in "Healing Victims of Sexual Abuse."

Good book for pastors or those in counseling,
This review is from: Healing Victims Of Sexual Abuse: How to counsel and minister to hearts wounded by abuse (Paperback)
I would highly recommend this book to any church leader or anyone in the situation of counseling someone who is hurting from abuse. This book is a comprehensive guide to some of the areas that are hard to understand about this very common, sad problem. This book is however based on people's opinions and experiences and there were certain things I thought were a little odd, like some of the stories, but overall, I would highly recommend this book. I think that pastors should especially get and read this book so they know how to reach out and help. There was one letter from a hurting victim who explained how she reached out for help to other christians, they felt bad, wanted to help and yet in each case whether it was from lack of knowledge or simply ignoring her as they did not know what to do, she went without help and lived in pain, and was hurt more by people who said they wanted to help. It was a very touching story and one that the church really needs to hear as it is a very common problem.
This book can help to address these problems and help those involved to help the victims of this pain to come to a place where they can heal and recover and leave a life where they are not a victim. |
