Caren Goldman specializes in writing about spirituality, health, religion, psychology and popular culture. For over 35 years, hundreds of Caren's articles exploring the intersections of paths to healing and wholeness have appeared in national publications. These include Spirituality & Health, Coping, Diabetes Self-Management, New Age Journal, Body & Soul, Natural Health, Common Boundary, Yoga Journal, Forward Day-By-Day, Intuition, as well as regional magazines and major metropolitan daily newspapers. Caren is the author of four books. Eleven years ago she wrote Healing Words after being diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer. She is a grateful survivor who feels blessed. She donates her royalties to cancer causes. Caren is also the Jewish co-author of Finding Jesus, Discovering Self and Across The Threshold, Into The Questions -- two acclaimed, experiential books on Jesus of Nazareth, as well as the writer for the Omega Institute Mind, Body, Spirit Book: Vitality & Wellness (Dell 1999). Additionally, she is a contributor to explorefaith.org and an associate editor of The Bible Workbench, an internationally distributed adult Bible study curriculum published by the Educational Center in Charlotte, NC.
Caren received her BA in journalism from Ohio Wesleyan University. Graduate studies included courses in journalism, psychology, religion, education, and the arts at several universities and the St. Nicholas Montessori Training Centre in London, England. She has also done leadership and organizational development training with The Guild For Psychological Studies in San Francisco, The Mid-Atlantic Training Committee, and Dr. Peter Steinke who developed the Bridgebuilder™ method of conflict resolution. Prior to becoming a full-time freelance writer and author, she was an award-winning features and investigative reporter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the assistant editor of the nationally acclaimed Cleveland Jewish News. Among her honors are listings in Who's Who In the Midwest, Foremost Women In Communications, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who of America.
When she is not racing to meet deadlines, Caren speaks about healing, spirituality, and the healing power of words to groups and audiences of all sizes at hospitals, medical schools, cancer centers, hospices, churches, synagogues, and universities. She also leads retreats and seminars at spiritual and secular conference centers throughout the country and works as a Bridgebuilder™ conflict resolution consultant to churches, synagogues, and non-profit organizations. She has also served as adjunct faculty in the Mass Communications Department at Bowling Green State University and on many non-profit and secular boards. She, her husband Rev. Ted Voorhees, and their two amazing rescue dogs Micah and Karma live in St. Augustine, FL and Asheville, NC.
