4.0 out of 5 stars It's a good start
Health according to the scriptures is a good start on the study of what the bible says about health. But it is just a start and I think alot more research could be done. I am a Christian and a raw food vegan and there is little written that addresses both. This is one of those books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Health According To The Scriptures
In "Health According To The Scriptures" Paul Nison's ideas on our hurried lifestyle, the ideal times to sleep and eat, the negative effects of television, meat eating before the flood and God's dietary laws are interesting. The author gives some good Scriptural guidelines for choosing healthy meat.

I am a believer in the Messiah, who wrecked her health...

If you are are professed christian, this book is for you. If this book does not do anything for you as far as studying scripture for you to see how far we christians have strayed when it came to our diet, then not following God's laws are not your thing. We are are then like Lot's wife when it comes to the SAD diet. I commend the author for his biblical studies and refering to the Torah in the usage of the proper names of God. I am more a King James version student and would have preferred usage of this version when using verses than using the other version's verses as additional verses. I overcame my problem of this by having my bible with me that when you referred to a bible verse, I looked it up in my King James bible. Genisis 1:29 is now my diet. Thank you for helping me to see the light.

If you need inspiration to live a healthful life and eat a healthy diet, this book is for you. Anytime I feel like sinking to my old habits, reading any part of this book brings me back to where I want to be. God laid out the perfect plan for our health. I used to search for passages in the Bible for information. Paul has searched for me and I now know that eating the way our Creator intended us to eat will make a huge difference in your health and happiness!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Health According To The Scriptures, June 23, 2010
This review is from: Health According To The Scriptures (Paperback)
In "Health According To The Scriptures" Paul Nison's ideas on our hurried lifestyle, the ideal times to sleep and eat, the negative effects of television, meat eating before the flood and God's dietary laws are interesting. The author gives some good Scriptural guidelines for choosing healthy meat.

I am a believer in the Messiah, who wrecked her health during nine years on a vegan diet. I suffered from adrenal fatigue as a result of this diet plan. We can not go back to the garden at this time (sin took us out of Eden and away from Genesis 1:29 eating). A few chapters later, right after the end of the flood, in Genesis 9, God tells us to eat meat. The only place you can get B12 is animal products. During my vegan years, I was B12 depleted. A B12 test revealed that I had none left. While sunlight is the best source of D, the only foods that contain this vital substance are animal products. While contending that a vegetarian diet can be healthy, the author does not talk about the vitamin B12 and D deficiency problems that commonly occur in vegans and vegetarians. In talking about unhealthy or healthy grains, he never mentions oats or brown rice which are obviously healthy grains. He tells you not to eat basmati rice. White basmati obviously isn't healthy, but if you have never eaten brown basmati rice, it smells and tastes delicious. He never explains his reasons for calling grains such as spelt unhealthy. He also never explains his reasons for calling certain animal fats unhealthy. I also disagree with his ideas on food combining. I've tried it and it's to restrictive. The best book I have read on a healthful diet is "The Metabolic Typing Diet", by William Wolcott. While we all need carbs, fats, and proteins, some people need more fats and proteins than other people, while some need more carbs, plus low fat meats, and still other people need a mix of all three.
