Book Description

Health Essentials Series March 27, 2001
Iridology is a method of understanding a person's state of health by examining his or her eyes. It can play a role in the diagnosis and prevention of complaints like migraine, as well as illnesses and diseases where early diagnosis can be of enormous benefit including diabetes, multiple sclerosis and kidney problems. Emotional and mental problems can also be detected. This guide, which is part of a series, outlines what iridology is and how it works, what it can be used for and where to find out more, and includes basic iridology techniques for self-diagnosis.

1.0 out of 5 stars There are better books than this one, July 24, 1998

Explanations and definitions are there - but I did not find the book's images and diagrams helpful. Book is only informative but not clearly descriptive - there are better ones out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars relatively basic info before you see an iridologist, January 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Health Essentials Iridology (Health Essentials Series) (Paperback)
Easy-to-read and contains all the info I need before seeing an "iridologist." Found that self-test iridology section pretty cool. I've learnt quite a bit and am pretty interesting in becoming an iridologist myself. Shame about the iffy diagrams :(

3.0 out of 5 stars A Basic Introduction to Iridology, August 21, 2005

This review is from: Health Essentials Iridology (Health Essentials Series) (Paperback)
Iridology is a fairly old concept that doesn't get much recognition. This book basically introduces the reader to the basic priciples of iridology. In it, the authors describe the different marks that one can find on the iris and describes the associations each area has with the body.

The ability to self-diagnose with the use of this text is limited. The eye charts, although interesting, are so specific that without the use of digital imaging, the best one could do is generalize.

The largest problem with the text is the lack of research provided. There are a few studies mentioned without the supporting data, but nothing substantiating the claims. Of course, the whole area of iridology is basically still in its infancy, from a purely research oriented perspective.

With that said, the whole idea is pretty interesting, and if you know nothing of the science, this book will do nicely as an intro.
