Losing weight has been an uphill struggle for me. I have tried every meal plan and book out there. Most are fads or work short term. What I like about 'Health Food Lies' is that it gave me a simple, actionable plan. It also exposed a lot of what I expected about the food industry - that they are mislabeling foods that are making us gain weight. For example, I learned when it says 'low sugar' that can mean that it is technically low in sugar, but higher in simple carbs which also equal sugar. This all increases insulin and therefore fat storage. Good stuff to know.

Eating the right foods and doing a lot of exercises is just not enough in many occasions. Actually, as this book outlines, the definition of the right foods is often misleading and only causes the opposite effect. Instead of loosing weight, you gain. This book opened my eyes for the things that I should check for when selecting foods for my diet.
