Editorial Reviews

Review

In total, I believe that Health Insurance is an outstanding first textbook in this subject area. This is undoubtedly true, as it represents what must be the best one-volume summary of empirical research on health insurance available anywhere. --Curtis Florence, PhD, Adjunct Associate Professor, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University

When it comes to using this book as a text for college, it's not that great. There are no distinguishing terms in a glossary nor bold print terms in the text. It has minimal page breaks and just goes on. When you are trying to pinpoint something in particular, this makes it very hard to find. It does not do well in getting to the point of explaining things either.

While the PPACA adds another layer of information that needs to be studied, I found this book in-depth yet easy to follow. No matter how much insurance changes, many of the concepts here are timeless and worth understanding. This is an important book for anyone in health care organization and policy, as well as anyone interested in economics.
