A great product at its price. Can't be beat. I purchased it at $24.99 with $10-off promotion and free shipping. Arrived the next day.

Body fat percentage measurement seems reasonable: I have another bathroom scale that measures body fat %, and the numbers match reasonably, although this product seems more accurate. However, I haven't used a professional, gym-class body fat calculator, so I'm unsure how accurate this feature is.

Combined with the hydration level measurement, this product allows you track your fat loss and LBM (lean body mass) gain perfectly.

The display is very large for comfortable reading, and it looks great in bathroom.

There IS a reset feature on this product contrary to what other reviewer said. It's in the manual; a matter of pressing and holding two buttons simulataneously.

A perfect buy at its price range. Possibly the best in its class.

Update on 2/5/2009: The body fat % measurement feature isn't all that accurate. I have contacted the manufacturer's customer service, and they confirmed it. Moreover, according to them, it only measures the body fat % of the lower half of your body, which, of course, is bound to create error. For its price, design, and features, it's still a great product though.

I've been working on managing my weight for some time and I have had several scales that were not accurate. I love this scale and all of it's features (digital display, body fat & water weight % scale) and I would recomend it to anyone looking to keep tabs on their weight.

This is an attractive and easy to use scale. The weight measures are consistent and the hydration measurement seems reasonable. The body fat percent shown is way off, but it is consistent. I am a 6 foot male about 240 lbs and this scale says I have 6.6% body fat. The correct number should be between 20 - 25%. The reading is off for my entire family.

The instructions say to stand on the plates for your feet and keep your thighs apart. Legs aren't made to put your feet so close together and still keep your thighs apart.

The Health o Meter BFM582-63 Body Fat, Percent Hydration & Weight Tracking Scale is a good product that is both attractive and functional. The glass and brushed steel top looks a lot more attractive than a few of the other scales I was considering. Ultimately I was sold by the fact that this unit is capable of storing readings for up to 4 people, as well as tracking the percentage of body fat.

INSTALLATION AND USE

The unit comes with the batteries inside of the battery compartment, though they are sealed. When I removed them to break the seal so that I could reinstall them, the compartment definitely felt a little flimsy to me. That is in contrast to most of the other pieces of this unit. The base feels like it might be a solid metal ring and the top feels very sturdy. The buttons on the front feel slightly less sturdy, but they work just fine.

Once you install the batteries, you have to make sure you have this thing on a hard surface. The feet seem to have some role in how this measures weight and they are a lot less accurate if this is placed on a carpet.

If you tap the unit you will see it show a zero and you can then step on it for a weight measurement. But before you can measure your body fat or hydration percentages, you have to enter a profile in. Basically that means you input your settings for one of the four buttons on the front. It's easy enough to do.

Before you can actually get your readings, though, you have to do a few more things:
1. Press the number that corresponds to your profile, where you have input your height and other info.
2. Wait till the screen cycles through to zero (0) on both the top and bottom numbers before you step on it.
3. Make sure you step on it with bare feet (no socks) or else it won't be able to read your body fat and hydration.
4. If you step on it too soon, or if you're wearing socks, one or both readings will say "E" for "error." You will then have to wait for it to cycle down to a blank screen before starting this process over again.

Getting weight alone doesn't require you to enter into any profile. Just tap the scale, wait for it to cycle to zero, and then step up on it.

The actual weight and body hydration readings have been steady so far, but the body fat calculations have varied a lot based upon when I have taken them. I have found them to seem to be more accurate right after a shower, but I am only judging that against readings I got from a small hand held unit. I take multiple readings just to average them out, but only time will tell how accurate the body fat readout is.

CONCLUSION

While it does take some time to do all these things to get a reading, it works well once you get the hang of it. The main thing is to not step on it too fast. It seems fairly sturdy so far but I will update this review. This product definitely works well and offers a lot of features considering the price. As long as you don't mind going through the various steps or waiting for your readings, it works.

This scale is a lot sturdier than it appears in the pictures. The individual buttons are easy to set up and are big enough that they can be pressed easily with a big toe before stepping on. I like that it displays your previous weight each time before you get on. My only gripes are that it takes about 10 seconds from the time you press your button until it is ready to weigh you and the circular design means that bigger feet will feel cramped on this scale. I am a men's size 11 and the surface of the scale is just big enough for my feet. Anyone size 13 and above should consider a different scale.

I had a scale before , but that lacked the body fat measurement, which in reality is more important than the weight itself (I can fluctuate 4 pounds in one day). In any case, after setting up your stats (of which there are 4 possible settings), it's as easy as pie. Tap one of the four pre-set pedals, wait 10 seconds (the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars), and step on.

It doesn't store past readings (except the most recent), which, whatever. If I cared that much I could record it all, but dang, a great deal!

I'm pretty pleased with this purchase, the price was reasonable compared to similar scales and so far it seems to be pretty accurate. I've tried hopping off and then hopping back on to see if I get a different reading, and so far it seems to not vary more than 0.2 lbs. The water and fat readings don't waiver. The only complaint I have is that it seems to take forever to "cycle" through the stats when you turn it on, you can't stand on it before it gets you through your previous stats, or else it will give you the big "E" error message. So, if you are not impatient, its a fantastic scale!

I've had this for several years now and it's still working great. The only issue I have with it really is that it keeps telling me I'm heavier than I was a couple of years ago... :p I've gotta work on that I suppose. In any case, there's simple operation with the toes to enter your info and it holds more than just one persons data if you use the keys at the bottom or you can simply tap it and use it generically without all the extra info that needs more input.

I'd definitely buy this again.

I enjoyed using this scale while is lasted. After about a year (and after the warranty expired) the scale stopped working. Once I determined that batteries weren't the problem, I took it apart to try and fix it. While taking it apart, I noticed the the entire circuit board was wet and moldy. I realized that the way the scale is put together, the circuit board is not protected from steam or water and so over time, steam must have gotten the circuit board wet. This seems like poor design since most scales are kept in the bathroom and this should be a foreseeable problem.

I bought thi sproduct more than a month ago. I've read different reviews about it and I have to say I am still glad I got it. It is accurate, even if it shows much more than I would want. I don't know how it counts the fat but I believe that the number is at least approximate to the actual one. I like the design. It is also easy to use and to program.Good stuff. So far no regrets.
