This scale looks nice, but its readings are very inconsistent. It can vary by almost 10 pounds, depending on how you step on it, how often you step on it, and its position on the floor. And you better step on and stand still very quickly, as it turns off far too quickly. I wish I had kept my old, worn analog scale. Keep looking.

If you want a nice accurate scale keep looking. This model is lousy at telling you what you weigh. Nothing disappoints more than hopping on and discovering YAY you weigh a certain weight..then trying again a few minutes later and discover NO you actually weigh 5 pounds more!
I called the company and they told me you had to wait a few seconds between weighing in for the scale to recalibrate. So I did that, but it didnt make any difference. My weight has varied as much as 10 pounds on this scale.
On the plus side, its streamlined with a clear read out. But who cares if the read out is so off!

I bought this to try and track my weight, but the displayed weight on this scale will vary up to 10 lbs. within a few minutes. Generally I found the further back on the scale I stood the lighter I got. Also, it was very finicky about standing absolutely still.

give me a 10 lb range inside of 5 min...
you can step on it 6 times in a row and get 6 different weights with a 10lb weight range.. not worth it get something else!

I just bought this scale recently, not from Amazon, but from National Wholesale Liquidators here in Queens, ny. It works just fine for me so i was surprised by these reviews. My weight is always around 204 pounds(from doctor visits). This scale measured me at 203.6 the first time i used it which was a couple days ago. Now i saw all these reviews and i have just tested it 5 times back to back. The results are as follows: 203.6,203.4,203.4,203.2,and 203.8. So yes it seems to vary each time but only by around .2 pounds mostly (which is incidentally what it says on the box; that it is accurate to 1/5 of a pound). I had my son try as well, he is normally always ~125-127 pounds. The 5 results for him were: 127.6,127.6,127.6,127.8,127.8 .
Basically what i am trying to say is i am not getting those 10 pound deviations. Maybe the one i got is a newly manufactured one, though they are the same model (hdr900-01), and most of these reviews are from 2003. Or maybe Amazon has a bad batch. Or perhaps the reviewers all got bad batches except the 1 person who reviewed it 4 stars.
Being the cheapest digital scale i could find i think you should give this a try. It also looks quite nice and stylish. Operating it is simple as well. You just press on it with your feet, wait for it to say 0.0 on the display then get on.

This scale is horrible. I dont know what I weigh. This morning i stepped on the scale to find that i lost 5 pounds this week. I couldn't believe it, so i got back on the scale and was 3 pounds heavier than i was 30 seconds before. I got on again, and was a different weight. Bottom line - In a 5 minute period, i weighed about 5 different things.

This is the worst scale I have ever used. Just like what most of the other reviewers have mentioned, the weight fluctuates even when you measure the weight successively within a minute. The fluctuation on my scale is within 4 lbs. It is very frustrating to use such an inaccurate scale, because it is as good as not using one. I will never trust the Healthometer brand ever.

And for the reviewer who thinks that other reviewers couldn't "follow instructions" and stand still while they weigh themselves, please don't insult other people's intelligence.

I bought this scale a few months ago at another retailer. I wanted to post my review because I don't have any problems at all with it. I noticed the reviews are all from several years ago so maybe it has been improved and the problems they had have been fixed.
At any rate it works fine for me, the read-out is large and even when I shift my weight the weight displayed remains the same. I set it and try to keep it in the same spot, as I would any scales. I went to the doctor's recently and the scales there matched this one within .5 lb which is very good, none of my others ever came that close. I got it on sale and for the price it definitely serves the purpose. I hope this helps others make a decision today and not based on old out-of-date reviews.

This is a great all around digital scale... as long as you read the instructions. You need to stand still while it weighs you. Large digital display is easy to read. The slim design is easy to hide in the bathroom and the price was great. I went to the doctor's two days ago and this scale weighed me in at the same as their calibrated office scale.
Bottom Line: works just fine even though I don't always like the answer.
