1.0 out of 5 stars Too much theory - not enough practical information
This book does not deliver what i expected. IT is full of useless and dubious technical details. For its size the amount of useful information is very little. I expect to get something out from every book I read, and an investment of 5-10 hours to read this one, got me nowhere. Makes me wonder about the rest of the reviews. Reviews that and written from friends and are...

5.0 out of 5 stars An Opus! The work we have been waiting for., June 12, 2004
As a dentist, I have been advising patients to rid themselves of their mercury amalgams and, in the wake of Dr.Yiamouyiannis' research years ago, to avoid all exposure to fluoride. Unfortunately, in the US today, any professional advising similarly risks losing their practicing license to the local Board. Further, the thimerosol(mercury preservative) question with children's vaccinations has been buried mostly in the face of corporation and organized medicine's refusal to allow the issue proper publicity and debate. Due to the structure of the corporate universe, the serious, debilitating and life-threatening issues raised by Dr. Blaylock have been pushed to the dark corners of the alternative medical community to keep alive. Dr. Blaylock here shifts the tables. This book is a must-read for all health practitioners, be we allopathic or "complementary", and will become an empowerment to us in the face of official attempts to bury our criticisms. I have written to Dr. Blaylock and proposed better marketing and, perhaps, a title change in an attempt to give this work the readership it deserves, but for now, READ THIS BOOK! and you will change your world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book by Dr. Blaylock, April 21, 2004
By A Customer
Bar None, this is the best book I have ever read on nutrition and health maintenance. Over the years, I have read some negative articles about aspartame, mercury, lead, MSG, aluminum, dental amalgam, and fluoride, but this book is far more comprehensive on those subjects. Dr. Blaylock gives the reader detailed, scientific explanations of what these hazardous substances do, and how to counter them with supplements, vitamins, and paying attention to what you eat and drink.

For example, after reading the chapter on fluoride, I installed a 5-stage reverse osmosis water filter under my kitchen sink that removes fluoride from the water, threw out all the fluoride toothpaste in the house, and bought fluoride-free toothpaste.

In these 549 pages, including 558 references to scientific studies and reviews, the author presents new insights on many substances, including the totally unnecessary fluoridation of water in the U.S. and the 60 years of untruths from the ADA and Government about cavities, and of the ADA's adamant insistence that the mercury fillings in our mouths are safe!

Dr. Blaylock has the courage to tell us the truth, and this book is a tribute to all of us and our health.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tell These Secrets!, June 3, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Our bodies were not designed for -- and have never adapted to --food and water containing MSG, aspartame, mercury, lead, aluminum and fluoride. Dr. Russell Blaylock gives us the vital information we need to identify, avoid and recover from exposure to neurotoxic and other hazardous substances. Ironically, some of the riskiest foods in the marketplace are sold to the unwary as "health foods." Modern highly processed soy foods -- such as the soy protein isolate found in shake powders, energy bars, veggie burgers and infant formula, for examples -- may contain unexpectedly high levels of MSG, fluoride and aluminum as well as carcinogens such as nitrosamines. Thanks to Dr. Blaylock, many more people will become aware of these dangers and also recognize that it's buyer beware not only at regular supermarkets but at health food stores. We should all buy this important book for our friends, our families and ourselves, and tell the secrets to as many people as we can.

As a cancer patient, I thought I would derive some beneficial nutrition info from some chapters. What I found was immediately useful information on life-saving dietary/living habits and invaluable sources for high quality dietary supplements. Not only did the book tell what to do, but it thoroughly explained WHY. ...well documented. I keep picking up this book and reading it again..... I would like to thank Dr. Blaylock for this valuable contribution to our society.

5.0 out of 5 stars Biochemical evidence for healthy nutrition, November 28, 2003
By
dan toner (Den Haag, Netherlands, Europe) - See all my reviews
Finally I read scientifically based evidence about healthy nutrition as the basics in prevention of chronic diseases and about enhancement of the capacity of the bodies defenses (immune, detoxification a.o.) to cope with all kinds of contaminants encountered in the avarage daily life.
Good basics for all the stuff that I can buy at the health food stores. Absolutely worth the money.

My reason to read it: permanent eye damage triggered or caused by waterbased acrylic paint -as a professional painter-, optic (all the symptoms of Fuchs distrophy except a damaged cornea, light dispersion, probably some macular degeneration, enhanced photo sensivity)and possibly neurotoxic (extremely sensitive to very small concentrations of any kind of contaminant / any vapour, dust, high-contrast subjects).

5.0 out of 5 stars Concisely and well written, April 3, 2006

The book is written in a very no nonsense manner without wasting your time with fluff. I've read through 70% of the book just by zooming in on items that I'm specifically interested in. Every time I find the book very interesting. The chapters on Flouride and Mercury are riviting. Information that every person needs to know! Theres also about 150 pages on what you can do to help your golden years. I really liked the chapter on protecting your Brain.
Definitely a book to keep in your library at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal reference, February 11, 2008

This review is from: Health and Nutrition Secrets (Paperback)
If you buy one book on health, make it this one. It drills down to the fundamental causes of all our modern diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and the gamut of neurological afflictions. The book is very well organized so you can zoom in to your item of interest and get specific nutrition and supplement recommendations. But you should read it cover to cover - it's an eye-opening ride, taking you from the political and corporate history behind different health policies and commonly held medical beliefs, zooming all the way down to molecular mechanisms for different toxins. Tightly written, neither dogmatic nor dry, the book is a pleasure to read. Decades from now the medical establishment may consider this information self-evident, and look back on chemo, angioplasty, and statins as they now look back on leeches, but for now, this book is cutting edge. Learn how to use simple nutritional changes and supplements to give your body the tools it needs to fight and win against diseases that have been labeled chronic or incurable. If you are short on time and want just quality actionable information, subscribe to his Blaylock Wellness Reports, and download the collection of PDF's that focus on specific diseases and health issues, distilling the information to about 10 pages for each subject. Even if you never buy a vitamin, the information here will help you navigate the toxic nutritional minefield we live in.
