This is a solid built large good looking scale.
The negative reviews I seem to see here are about the scale not being accurate.
With a scale that has a calibration dial, you have the "calibrate it" even after every use. it's called "zeroing out".
In aerospace workplace we would never think of weighing something without zeroing a scale. No spring loaded scale will automatically go back to zero....unless it is a cheaply made scale that puts a "stop" at zero to stop the needle......which in turn makes
the scale not show the true weight.....and you can't put a ten pound weight on a scale and think it will read exactly 10 pounds.
If you want to test a scale use a liquid weight not solid.....your body is not a solid weight, it's always moving.
if you are not sure the scale is accurate........put something 50 lbs or more on the scale...that you know is 50 lbs...or weight yourself and then carry a 20lb bag of ice or something with you on the scale.
I have tested mine and I am very pleased with it's accuracy, and zeroing it out is not problem for me....If you want to be accurate....

My parents bought one a few years back and it worked great, so I decided to buy one. The scales worked for about 2 weeks then started freaking out. I placed both scales besides each other claibrated them equally and my weighed me 40lbs less than my parents set. I would recommend using caution when purchasing this product.

I SHOULD OF LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS BUT I WAS LIKE WHAT THE HECK I LIKE THE PRICE AND THE SHIPPING IS FREE (BAD IDEA)...THIS IS A PIECE OF JUNK AND U WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY..ITS SIX POUNDS OFF AND IT WILL NOT STAY ON ZERO. LOOKS GOOD ON THE COMPUTER SCREEN AND IT IS EVEN HEAVY BUT THE NEEDLE IS VERY CHEAPLY MADE CAUSING IT TO BE INACCURATE....DONOT BUY THIS SCALE...

I returned two other mechanical scales I could barely read (Thinner and Sunbeam) before this finally hit the spot. This scale has a red pointer and bold midlines, plus a dot standing in for 5s, so I know whether it reads 132 or 133. Perfect! I weigh myself daily, and exact numbers keep me honest--I've kept off 20 pounds for 6 years now. My parents have the full-on professional model of this brand, which is heavier than the Jr., but Jr. is a perfectly fine scale for a lot less money. By the way, I don't dock stars for re-zeroing--most mechanical scales need to be zeroed often. And, I chose mechanical over digital because I don't want to deal with batteries.

This scale is utterally worthless. The needle is not on zero and there is no discernable way of resetting it.

So far so good. Only complaint is that the numbers are a little hard to read, but that is only because I don't weigh myself with my glasses on. Seems to be a high quality scale which is nice. I was attracted b/c of the low price. Overall I think this is a good bargin. Low price, good quality.

This scale is inaccurate. When I step off the scale the needle does not consistently return to zero. If it settles above zero, I get a high reading. If the needle settles below zero, I get a low reading. If I gently kick it until it lands on zero before I get on the scale, I think I'm getting a fairly accurate reading. Total pain. I would return it if I hadn't thrown out the packaging.

We had a digital scale for quite a while now, but the numbers were hard to see and the battery kept dieing, so I bought this scale for the large display and no batteries. Unfortunately, zeroing the scale is not so precise so....your weight won't be accurate either. Reading the scale is a snap, but what good is it if the numbers are off? I guess one could expect to pay an arm and a leg if they expect to get a scale that is accurate. Personally I think I'll try to find an inexpensive digital scale with large numbers....wish me luck!
