4.0 out of 5 stars The Explosive & Noncompliant Child: Help for parents!, April 4, 2002

This review is from: Health Talks at The Cleveland Clinic Presents: The Explosive and Noncompliant Child: A Special Workshop for Parents, Featuring Dr. Ross Greene [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Dr. Greene did a interesting and informative review of a techinque which he has been utilizing for a few years. The material is practical information which can be utilized immediately after watching without having to buy supplies or make a chart. It gives parents, with this type of child, an alterative approach rathar than just piling on consequences & watching the child react. I would recommend it for parents, teachers, behavioral health professionals and others who work with children & adolescents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Counselors and educators: Get this video!, March 27, 2004

This review is from: Health Talks at The Cleveland Clinic Presents: The Explosive and Noncompliant Child: A Special Workshop for Parents, Featuring Dr. Ross Greene [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is of a presentation given by Ross Greene to counselors and educators on chronically inflexible, explosive, and non-compliant children. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and I believe this approach to be the very best for parents, teachers, counselors and virtually any adult who works with these type of children. I have been using the approach in counseling and in educating teachers and group home staff for 4 years and we are seeing amazing results with this most difficult population of children. I highly recommend this video, along with Ross Greene's book: "The Explosive Child."

5.0 out of 5 stars A Don't Miss Parenting and Teaching Tool, July 28, 2004
By
This review is from: Health Talks at The Cleveland Clinic Presents: The Explosive and Noncompliant Child: A Special Workshop for Parents, Featuring Dr. Ross Greene [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Greene offers a hopeful alternative to parents and teachers wishing to help kids learn needed skills in impulse control and problem-solving. By defining these problems as a form of delayed learning, he encourages mentors to focus thoughtfully on teaching the skills rather than to think the child is simply willfully misbehaving. Adults with these same problems, because they never learned them, may also benefit from Greene's approach.
A more hopeful and productive alternative to Phalen's 1 2 3 Magic, this method focuses on what comes before a misbehavior or lack of skill rather than trying to use only what parents or teachers do after a misbehavior.
Conceptually, this approach should be part of any parent or teacher's tool box for helping others.
