Book Description

December 1, 2007
Fasting has long been an exercise practiced by those seeking spiritual strength, but here, Wallace D. Wattles asserts the benefits of fasting on physical strength as well. Wattles uses personal experience and firsthand knowledge to drive his theories on how to increase one's health, happiness, and creativity through approaching eating in a different way. In addition to discussing the nutritional content, quantity, and timing of eating, he includes detailed arguments for the benefit of adequate sleep and the importance of deep breathing and fresh air. Wattles stands out from other writers on the subject of health and wellness (both those in 1907 and today) by focusing his conversational and compassionate prose on the simplest principles and common sense, making clear his affirmation that is it possible for anyone to improve his or her own health and happiness without the need for elaborate science. American author WALLACE DELOIS WATTLES (1860-1911) overcame poverty and failure in his life to become a pioneer of the early self-help movement. Among his books are The Science of Getting Rich, The Science of Being Great, and The Science of Being Well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remarkale Book, August 12, 2007
This book is remarkable. I look at food and the way I eat differently. I also do all I can to stay aware of how my body regenerates itself while I sleep. The explanations are clearly explained and this book is easily read in a day. If you have diet issues I urge you to read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars True wisdom usually comes in few words..., June 19, 2008
I have read many books on diet and fasting, and do fast regularly. This book touches on the liitle known fact that fasting is a PRESCRIPTION for physical (not just spiritual) health. The body was designed to thrive on clean air, clean water, and a minimal amount of pure whole food (in that order). Just think about how long you can go without air (seconds, maybe minutes), before the body goes into a panic? Now think about water... (several days)? And food...? The body can live at least a month without solid food, and even longer on liquid food (raw juices and such). Wattles explains, in a somewhat scientific way, that fasting is not only desired for health , but required. It is required to recover quickly from illnesses and to maximize your lifespan. Not many books on the market will approach this subject as he has, and this book is a gem for my library.
