Product Description

Flavor: Chia Seeds

"As tiny as those seeds are, they're superpacked with omega-3s, omega-6s, protein, calcium, iron, zinc, fiber, and antioxidants. If you had to pick just one desert-island food, you couldn't do much better than chia, at least if you were interested in building muscle, lowering cholesterol, and reducing your risk of heart disease; after a few months on the chia diet, you could probably swim home." - as described in the New York Times best-selling book "Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall

You can put them in water and add a little juice, add them to smoothies, sprinkle on cereal and granola, mix in with yogurt, make puddings, the options are endless!

Like anything new, I was skeptical as to if this product would actually taste tolerable.

Like many, I became interested in chia seeds after reading ""Born to Run" and started to use chia seeds on a daily basis (usually mixed in with my morning smoothie). I have purchased chia seeds from different producers in order to find the best product and have found that HW's chia seeds are the best around. The chia seeds are of high quality (no imperfections like dirt or other products mixed in with the seeds), the packaging is great (great design/logo and, more importantly, is durable and sturdy unlike some of the other seeds that I have received in ziplock bags) and the company has a very informative website that has great recipes and information about the product. I also purchased the HW chia bars at the same time (separate review) and thought they were excellent. I have been an Amazon customer for many years and have never reviewed a product but felt compelled to do so when I read an earlier review which accused the company of placing positive reviews. I thought it was an unfair (borderline slanderous) accusation to make and makes me doubt the credibility and question the intentions of the author as it doesn't appear that she bought the product (doesn't appear to be an Amazon Verified Purchase) or even mention the product in her "review". She is either a conspiracy theorist or has an ulterior motive, either way I thought her review was pretty "lame" (quoting her review). Bottom line is that HW has a great product and I am another satisfied customer (check out some of the user reviews on the HW website). I am happy to be contacted if anybody has any questions about my review or the product as I think that the benefits of chia seeds are real and HW has the best product on the market.

I'm kinda new to running and working out. (A couple months in) I'm 26 and I have been a 1/2 pack a day smoker for 12 years. I was never very athletic. I am usually kind of dragging and drained after a workout. I don't like the idea of sports drinks and supplements that are heavily processed with nasty chemicals and preservatives.

So I got the chia seeds because I thought they would have many of the things my muscles need to repair themselves after a workout. ( I also eat greek yogurt post-workout which has 46% DV of protein in a cup)

I ordered the chia stuff and had been putting it in oatmeal, homemade bread and stuff. The smell and flavor of the seeds is actually pretty good. Although the oatmeal/chia combo is tastey and does give me some energy in the mornings, NOTHING compares to the effects of drinking chia gel!

I had the chia seeds for 4 days and hadn't yet tried the gel mixture. Today I had a really hard run and workout. I was VERY tired and just straight-up drained. So I decided to try the ChiaGel...

The energy replenishment was INSANE!! In 20m I was completely restored and full of energy. I still had the 'after workout buzz' but my energy level was higher than even before I started my workout. I feel like I could go straight back to the gym for more... but I won't. lol

When I made my Chia Gel, I followed some advice from a video on a popular video-sharing website I'll call 'Us-Tube' (don't know if I'm allowed to put the actual name here) I suggest you all try it just like this because the seeds visibly react to the water and then to the citrus acid. WOW the effects this drink has are good!

1/2 Tbs Chia
6oz water
Stir constantly 5 min
add lemon juice
add agave nectar (or sugar, or honey)
DRINK

The Gel has a very good flavor, although the seedy mixture takes some getting used to. But after seeing how powerful this is, I wouldn't care if it tasted like wolfcrap!

I am a first-time reviewer, but I had to share this Chia success story: I trained with the Chia seeds for the approx. 4 weeks preceding the Oak Brook Half Marathon on Labor Day, Sep 5. Prior to training runs, I would soak 2 tablespoons of Chia seeds in water for 30 minutes, then squeeze juice from a fresh lime or orange into the mixture for taste. The night before my race, I mixed 2 tablespoons of Chia seeds in water, then put the mixture in the refigerator overnight, and drank the cold mixture (along with fresh juice squeezed from a raw orange) 60 minutes prior to race time the next morning. I've run this race twice before: the course has a punishing series of up-and-down hills at miles 7 and 8 that in the past have left my legs and energy levels shot. For two years in a row, my splits for miles 9-13 were approx. 30-45 seconds slower per mile than my pace in the opening 6 miles. But this year, with the amazing energy, nutrients and hydration provided by my pre-race Chia drink, I was able to maintain the same overall pace after the hills at 7 & 8 - in fact, my split for mile 13 (7:25) was just two seconds slower than my split for mile 1 (7:23), something I have never accomplished in any race. I finished the race in 1:37:26, 14th out of 96 in my age division, 108 out of 1166 overall, the second-fastest half marathon time I've ever run, and a whopping 5:30 faster than the same race in 2010. Thanks Health Warrior!

Chia is by far the best super food on the market! This "Running Food" has improved my strength and endurance more than any other supplement I tried in my 23 year training career. The fiber it provides has really helped me curb my appetite which has gotten me into the best shape of my life! The high dose of antioxidants (more than a serving of blueberries) provides the cancer fighting nutrition that is essential for a long healthy life. Most importantly Health Warrior sells the highest quality Chia seed on the market....ORGANIC, NO TILLAGE FARMING, HARVESTED AT PEAK TIME AND FULLY TRACEABLE. I received my order super fast. Great product, great dealer. Thanks Health Warrior!
