These are the most accurate set of scales I've ever owned. They were easy to assemble (just attach the base to the top w/ 4 bolts and then screw on the wheels w/ 2 more), simple to zero (twist a screw until the balance hovers in the middle), and accurate (they match to within 1/4 lb. of the scales at my weight loss group). These aren't light, flimsy scales, either, so I'm glad I got the wheel kit. I'm not disappointed.

Purchase this scale for a family of 4, children 2 and 4. We had previously purchased 2 $60 digital scales, but with people in the house who like to press buttons and jump on things, they quickly deteriorated to pieces of modern art. While this scale is more expensive initially, you don't need batteries, there are no circuit boards to get wet, and it doesn't make any interesting beeping noises, it just works. It is easy to put together, however it is on the heavy side, we keep ours in the basement, to over come the OCD desire to weigh ourselves every hour.

I thought my old spring scale was accurate. It was still more accurate than the digitals, those I tested were all over the place and could rarely give me the same reading twice. Anyhow, every time I went to the doctor's office, it showed me 4 lbs heavier than my scale. Ordered my weight and beam Healthometer, and sure enough it showed me 4 lbs heavier than the old spring scale. Oh well, now I know I've got a scale I can count on for accuracy. By the way, Wholesale Point shipped this out super quick! Ordered on a Sunday, they shipped on Tuesday and I got it the next day! Man, they are quick! Took three minutes to assemble. I didn't order the wheel kit, it's not really needed, but maybe elderly or some women would prefer that. I won't be moving it much to begin with, but certainly no problem to do so without the wheel kit. I've always wanted one of these scales, and couldn't be happier! Thanks again Wholesale Point for a great product at a very reasonable price! Five stars from me for the product and company!

First, a few notes about setting the scale up:

(*) In the box are a base, a pedestal, directions, and a baggie with four nuts and a laughably chintzy but functional wrench.

(*) Protruding from the pedestal are four threaded studs. The studs can only go in the base one way.

(*) With the base on the floor, you hoist the pedestal, guide it downward to the base and fit the studs into the appropriate holes.

(*) Then, the hard part -- or, more accurately, the closest you'll come to a hard part while putting this thing together: You must hoist flimsily attached pedestal/base together and lay the pedestal on a table, so that you can hand screw and then wrench-tighten the nuts onto the studs accessible from the bottom of the base. You'll want a firm hold on the base/pedestal assembly while doing this, and, if you care about scuff marks on the table, will want to cover it with a tarp or tarp equivalent beforehand.

(*) After the nuts are on tight: you slide a hook through a metal loop in the back of the pedestal (as described in the directions; it's easy, and obvious), put the whole shebang on the floor and you're done. You might need to turn a screw to get the balance beam to zero. I didn't. It was perfectly calibrated out of the box.

I'm happy I got it. My weight is fine, but keeping it fine has been a daily effort for many, many years. I keep close tabs on my weight, and I think it was worth the money to know how much I *really* weigh, without the variability of spring scales. I might not recommend this for anyone who anticipates having to move in the next few years; this thing will be one more headache to cart along in the U-Haul. But, if you're planning on staying where you are ...

I've never owned another pro scale and can't compare this to others on the market. It's one of the less expensive balance beam scales available, and all the Amazon reviews were good. That's why I chose it, and now I can contribute a positive review of my own.

This is exactly what I was looking for. It consistently weighs me the same, no matter how I stand on it, and provides feedback to 1/4 a pound accuracy. It also includes a height measurement, which some scales don't.

It doesn't include any wheels to move it around, but the scale isn't overly heavy. Any man should have no problem moving it around, and most women could probably move it, as well. If this is for an old person or someone not in good health, then just get someone to move it for you. In fact, the weight of the scale is a good thing, as you don't have to worry about it getting knocked over easily once it's in place.

It lists the max capacity as 500 lb, but the scale without the counterweight only goes to 350 pounds. If you want to weigh something more than 350 lb, you have to add the counterweight, then look at the included chart to get your weight. This isn't a big deal because 1) it's rare to find a scale that will go up to 500 lb, and 2) how often are you weighing something that weighs more than 350 lb, anyway?

The only problem with it is that a scale like this takes up more room than one of those standard crappy bathroom scales. You can't shove it into a corner because the top is wider than the bottom. And it has to be on a hard surface. If you put it on carpet, the scale will rock when you get on it because the carpet will give. So just make sure you have a place to put it, or just accept that the door to the toilet won't open the whole way because the scale is behind the door (or whatever problem you may encounter).

I paid $165, which included shipping and no tax, which is a great deal. If you have a place to put it, you'll love this scale.

I was concerned about ordering this scale because some of the reviewers said that it was broken on arrival and there was some question about whether Amazon would accept responsibility. Sure enough, my scale (packed loosely in cardboard) was broken on arrival and I didn't realize it until I tried to assemble it. However, Amazon sent me another scale right away with no problem, AND arranged to have the broken scale picked up from my house so I didn't have to lug it to UPS or FedEx. The replacement scale was packed tightly in foam and was intact.

The scale is a joy. It measures weight to the nearest quarter pound, and has an adjustment on the left side (not described in the instructions) so that you can fine-tune it permanently by using a known weight. It is absolutely consistent and I know exactly how my weight changes from day to day. It is also great for weighing luggage--just plop the suitcase on the scale and read the weight, in contrast to the struggle to see the weight on an electronic step-on scale.

My old digital bathroom scale had 2 problems: (1) It "remembered" your weight for a few minutes, so if you stepped off and then stepped back on it gave the same weight and gave a false impression of consistency and accuracy. (2) If you reset its memory by having someone else use it and then used it again yourself, it could change by as much as 2.5 pounds! Not good if you are trying to monitor your diet or trying to get as close to 50 pounds as possible in a suitcase!

The box came and it was quite large, about 6 lb long! I opened it and there were 2 main pieces and a little bag with a wrench (looks like a bracket) and 4 nuts. The descriptions said it came with casters but there were none in the box. I took the pieces upstairs one at a time because total it weighs about 40 lbs. It went together easily except putting on the nuts was a little difficult. I have fumble fingers trying to get the nut lined up with the threads of the screw so I wouldn't strip it. Just four nuts and you pull the little metal hook on the inside of the pillar and attach it to a hole on the base and that was it. It said to have a hard level floor to put it on and our floor slopes a bit (old house) so I shimmed a piece of plywood level and set it on that. It is super accurate. I weighed myself 3 times in a row and got the same weight. I'm really happy with the scale and it isn't that heavy that I needed the casters anyway since I have a permanent place for it. I purchased mine from the Wholesale Point, Inc (through Amazon.com) and the second business day it was shipped and it arrived 2 days later. We are 3 states away. I thought it would be a few weeks to get the scale but I got it within a week of ordering. I'm very happy!

Upon receipt the base appeared to have bent before packaging. I was able to pull it out myself and there is just cracked paint to show it was ever damaged.The scale seems to work fine. I am a big guy and it is hard to find a scale that will handle my weight accurately. I would have given it a 5 star rating had it not been damaged.

The HealthOMeter 402LB was easy to assemble and works perfectly. I couldn't ask for more.

Very easy to put together. Seems to be very accurate and easy to balance to zero if needs calibrated.
