Transformational Room Chapter is great, November 20, 2000

This review is from: Healthcare Architecture in an Era of Radical Transformation (Hardcover)
The chapter on the transformational room offers generous descriptions and anaylsis of reseach based concepts. Verderber and Fine clasify the maternity suite as such a room, they also provide a great BRIEF history of birthing centers in the U.S. The book seems well thought out and thorough.

This review is from: Healthcare Architecture in an Era of Radical Transformation (Hardcover)
Healthcare Architecture is both a history of a building type and a well covered and well-reasoned analysis of how ideology, technology, and public policy influences architecture as much as design theory and aesthetic preference. The authors detail the inseparability of architecture and the institutions that use these buildings.
Wayne Ruga, of Harvard University, says, "Healthcare Architecture should be required reading for those who have an interest in improving healthcare and architecture."
