I used Gapenski's text in my first healthcare finance course. It provided excellent examples and models that I later used in more advanced courses as well as in my career.

Had I purchased this exact same textbook through my college bookstore, I would have paid over a hundred bucks for an electronic version of it. I paid less than fifteen bucks for it here on Amazon, for a slightly used copy.

The book is laid out in a decent and logical manner. I would suggest doing the questions at the end of the chapters in order to figure out how to do the case studies. Please interject more humor for the next edition.

Very indepth material. As a healthcare professional, I found much of the subject matter to be helpful yet slightly challenging. It's definitely a great book for those looking for finance basics.

I graduated from University of Maryland, and then from Physical Therapy school at UMD Baltimore, and after 7 years of post secondary education I've never had a textbook that made me as frustrated as this book. I'm working toward an MBA/MHA and the professors are having us use this book. I hate it. It's poorly organized, provides poor explanations, and has very few charts and tables for learning the actual numbers behind all of the concepts (the charts and tables that are provided are in black and white). Even our professors (some of who have met Gapenski before) say they don't like the book, and that there are many errors in it. I know there are plenty of errors, especially in their math, because they've cost me lots of extra time while working through exercises.
Overall, I would never wish is book on anyone again, or even think or recommending it. If your professor wants to use it, beg him, plead with him or her not to use it!

The book is easy to read and follow. Overall, it meets my needs for the Grad class I am taking. I will hold on to this one after the class is done.
