5.0 out of 5 stars Real Nice and Secure Chin-up Bar
I bought this bar because I've been doing P90X (the best home fitness program on the market). Chin-ups/Pull-ups are an indespensible part of the program. While I also have a nice Phoenix Bench with a great lat tower, I was interested in trying to work with my body weight as it seems to be a different synergistic movement than pulldowns.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good sturdy bar!
I purchased the bar to compliment my P90X rotation. The bar is pretty sturdy once put together and so far I have not had any problems. My only complaint are the instructions or lack thereof. The instructions are diagrams with no text so it is very confusing, especially since the shorter screws seem too short to do the job. I had to go to a website where someone posted...

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Nice and Secure Chin-up Bar, March 13, 2007

I bought this bar because I've been doing P90X (the best home fitness program on the market). Chin-ups/Pull-ups are an indespensible part of the program. While I also have a nice Phoenix Bench with a great lat tower, I was interested in trying to work with my body weight as it seems to be a different synergistic movement than pulldowns.

I was torn between getting a Power Tower (which is REALLY nice but quite big) or something smaller that could be stored away in a closet. I opted to try this as a less expensive and less space imposing option and I've been REALLY happy with it so far. It was highly recommended to me by others using the P90X system.

I was concerned that at 6 ft 2 inches that it would be too low for me to use but I'm having no trouble at all.

What is nice about the Door Gym (which is what this product actually is, an authentic door gym, it says it right on it), is that rather than being suspended against the sides of the door frame, the bulk of the weight is against the front of the door frame. This allows it to feel really secure.

Anyway, so far, after using it for several weeks I am very happy with my purchase and I hope to get many years of use out of it.

This particular bar listed as the Health Care Chin-up bar has the best quality/price I could find anywhere.

I don't know if it will work for all door frames, and you need to make sure you have moulding above the door to help brace the bar (though it doesn't take hardly any of the weight from what I can see, it appears to just stabilize it)

Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Chin-up/Pull-up Bar!!!, April 27, 2007
This review is from: HealthCare Chin-Up Bar (Health and Beauty)
I love this bar. I was looking for a bar to use that wouldn't damage my door frame and that can be taken down and put up very easily without having to screw it into the door frame. You do have to put it together using screws (on the bar itself), but nothing screws into your molding or doorframe. The only thing I suggest is putting some sort of material or papertowel or something where it lies against the molding so as not to indent it there. I'm very happy w/ my purchase and it came quickly w/ free shipping.

4.0 out of 5 stars It was easy enough, July 12, 2007
This review is from: HealthCare Chin-Up Bar (Health and Beauty)
The directions were merely a diagram without step by step instructions, but it was easy enough to follow. If you trust the physics, this pull-up bar does the trick! What's great is how you can put it away (like when you've got people coming over). I wrap a thin hand towel over the door brace so it doesn't mark up the wall above the door. I'm also taking advantage of the multiple grips this bar allows you to do, so you can mix it up. I'm working my back and my arms and it feels great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what i was looking for!, September 23, 2008
This review is from: HealthCare Chin-Up Bar (Health and Beauty)
Well after finally putting it together, (having a hard time with the screw) I was amazed. Feels so sturdy and strong. Its definitely not coming off. With three different grips (underhand, overhand, neutral) its perfect.

ALSO great for pushups and dips. You are able to go much lower!

buy it, its worth the forty bucks!!!

I use this chin up bar for my p90x workouts and it was very easy for me to put together, even though the instructions weren't that great. It's pretty sturdy and does the job for me.

I had to go to a website where someone posted instructions on how to assemble it. Other than the instructions, I have no complaints about the bar at this time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great chin up bar, June 27, 2007
This review is from: HealthCare Chin-Up Bar (Health and Beauty)
This chin up bar is great. It fits my door frame perfectly, there's no damage to my door or door frame, and it is as easily removable as it is to set up...So far It has not failed yet on any points except with one minor detail that I think the average buyer would not realy care too much for as other chin up bars bars dont accomadate this as well: I wish there were an extra set of pads for the long bar, because after an exercise i wanted to do wide grip pull ups and doing them on the bar began to hurt my hands because of the steel of the bar. However, i believe this can be avoided by wearing gloves on somehow finding pads to put on the bar...all in all its a great bar and in my opinion better that something that will damage your door or wall with nails...

I think this is just what was looking for. A pull up bar that I didn't need to screw into the door frame, that I could take down easily, and that was sturdy enough to trust for a good workout. I really like it.
