6 of 6 people found the following review helpful By Laura Elizabeth Taylor on April 21, 2012
Format: Paperback
Finding this to be very resourceful and helpful in regards to products that are available and to be avoided and products that are available and to be considered. It is a bit of a dry read trying to make it through the amount of toxins, carcinogens and allergens that are in so many products we use every day. It's a little discouraging to hear. But I'm glad to hear of it at least from someone in this polluted system. I find the Environmental Working Group website to be very helpful along side this and other like minded books. And have already checked out some of their recommended product lines (Coastal Creations) and have discovered a few one my own (Alaffia) and have found the products to be very effective in replacing many of my previous products. I highly recommend this book and other like minded books to everyone in a step toward eliminating some of this plague of diseases and disorders that continue to run rampant despite numerous medical attempts to tame them; which could easily be diminished if we were consuming less toxic substances every day (esp: food and personal care products)!

I like the book, but I wish it would have been more specific about which products to buy and which ones to avoid. It gets a little confusing. It does however give you a good starting point to build your ongoing knowledge of the cosmetic industry so you can learn to purchase safe products, and avoid the toxic dangerous ones. ( Which you will learn are very abundant!)
