Book Description

Healthy Recipes For Kids

You might have heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but have you ever asked why that is? Breakfast has been touted by experts as the “fuel” necessary to start the day off on the right foot. Rather than just a saying, there is scientific proof that breakfast really does give our bodies and brains a kick-start. That is especially true for children.

Numerous studies into the benefits of breakfast have made it clear that your child needs this valuable meal in order for the rest of the day to be productive. A good breakfast is proven to lead to higher test scores, better school attendance and better behavior, both in class and out. It also leads to much better overall nutrition and easier weight control. Making breakfast a habit means that your kids are much more likely to continue eating breakfast when they are older, and that means the benefits last well beyond the school years.

Besides that, consider breakfast as a great time to connect. Whether you are sitting down to a leisurely breakfast on the weekend or giving the kids a quick meal while you drive them to the bus stop, breakfast can be a time for you to get insight into their day.

So without further ado, let’s get started with great recipes that can make breakfast a healthy snap for busy moms!

Some of these great dishes can be made ahead and tucked into the fridge overnight. Others can be whipped up in just a few minutes, perfect for the busy before-school rush mornings. Still others take a bit more time, and are perfect for a leisurely breakfast on the weekend.

Completely strapped for time? There are even “on the go” recipes here, which are great as a take-along breakfast while you are driving the kids to school or walking them to the bus stop. From smoothies packed with all the right things to yogurt topped with savory goodies, these recipes are a life-saver for those who are always running a little late.

Finally, keep in mind that many of these recipes, such as the crepes or muffins, can be made ahead of time and frozen for a quick, microwave-heated meal that is nutritious and hearty. These are proof that breakfast doesn’t have to be a big production in order to be healthy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Breakfast Recipes for Kids October 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This cookbook has a nice variety of recipes. It's hard to imagine not finding something here your kids will like. I also appreciated the fact that there are healthy substitutions offered. The other thing I like is that these are recipes where you can add toppings or ingredients that your kids like. There's a lot of flexibility. Finally you can make some of the breakfast recipes ahead of time and freeze for future use.

Recipes include smoothies, quick recipes (apple-cheese quesadilla and quick breakfast tacos look good), Everyday breakfast recipes (easy breakfast sandwich, crunchy sweet potato pancakes and smooth breakfast bagels sound yummy) and finally Leisurely Morning breakfasts (the French toast casserole is a sure winner.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Thank you!! January 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm not a mother of yet, but I am a college student who does a lot of babysitting to make some extra cash. Trust me, if you don't have kids, it is sometimes a miracleeee to get them to eat and I really don't want to be that babysitter that has to tell the kid's parents that they wouldn't eat their dinner. One trick I've found is doing breakfast for dinner and I used a lot of the great recipes in this book to help. The kids I sit for love the recipes because they're often interactive and fun to make and thier parents love them because their kid is fed something halfway healthy. Another recipe book I've found that helped during my kid-sitting adventures is 21 Delicious chicken recipes: For simple weeknight dining (Tasty and simple recipes for weeknight dining). This book has a ton of good chicken recipes that are easy to make, decently healthy, and kid-friendly. All in all, both books have made my life a heck of a lot easier. Thanks a bunch.

4.0 out of 5 stars From A Childless Person October 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Okay, I don't have kids, but, I have friends who have kids, and I've given them some of the recipes which they've absolutely loved since then. I've gotten nothing but positive feedback on the recipes. The kids eat them up, the parents are able to cook them quickly and easily. I can't give it five stars because I haven't used the recipes myself, but, four stars for all the people who I've given a recipe too and have loved it.

Check it out, I'm pretty sure it'll be worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Ideas October 14, 2012

Having young children, it is always a challenge to figure out what to give them for breakfast. So much of the store bought cereals are just loaded with sugar, and not what I want my kids to start their day off with. This book gives several good, healthy ideas for breakfast. I especially like the quick and easy recipes that don't take much time. I'm looking forward to trying out some of theses recipes this week. So are my kids!!

The recipes are healthy but if you have a picky eater or a child that doesn't like to try new foods then I would pass on this book. My daughter likes to try new foods but as she thought these didn't sound good :(
