Dazzle your senses...tantalize your taste buds ... with the fourth edition of "Healthy Dining in Los Angeles."

Did you know that most restaurant meals contain 1000-2000 calories and 50-100 grams of fat? Even the most nutrition-savvy person can't detect the hidden calories and fat in most restaurant foods. The "Healthy Dining" book gives you 'inside' information on what & how to order at your favorite local restaurants...and leads you to a spectacular selection of healthy items that are bursting with flavor.

"Healthy Dining in Los Angeles" is written by an award-winning team of nutrition experts who look inside chefs' secret recipes, analyze them, and select menu items that meet recommended nutrition guidelines. NO other source reveals such comprehensive, valuable information.

Each edition features: 1) Easy-to-read "nutrition labels" for hundreds of menu items (i.e., calories, fat, cholesterol, sodium, protein, carbohydrates, diabetic exchanges); 2) Over 40 delicious, healthy recipes from Los Angeles chefs; 3) Valuable restaurant coupons; and, 4) More than 40 pages of nutrition tips and advice for healthier dining.

With the "Healthy Dining" books, you'll discover a whole new world of restaurant dining that's fun, full of flavor, and wonderfully good for you!

"TOP TEN Healthy Orders at California Restaurants" -- Can you eat out and still eat healthy? Sure, California is known for its plethora of health-conscious restaurants--and you don't have to just eat tofu and broccoli, either. To prove that eating doesn't have to be bland, we went to Accents On Health, publishers of the popular "Healthy Dining" book series, and asked them to give us the nutritional scoop on some of our favorite orders at our favorite California eateries. Here are our Top Ten Healthy Orders, with nutritional information excerpted from "Healthy Dining in Los Angeles." All of the following received good to excellent ratings in the areas of calories, fat, and cholesterol content, with the exceptions noted. -- Benning's Health & Fitness Journal, March/April 1999 --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

About the Author

Anita Jones, M.P.H., is founding director of Healthy Dining and lead author of the "Healthy Dining" book series for Southern California (13 editions to date). Anita earned her masters degree in Public Health from San Diego State University. She works and speaks extensively in the fields of health and nutrition, within the restaurant and health & wellness industries.

Winner of the 1998 California Dietetic Association Meritorious Service Award, Anita and her Healthy Dining team are among the first researchers in the United States to "look into" chefs' secret recipes and develop & publish "nutrition labels" (calories, fat, cholesterol, sodium, and more) for restaurant meals. Over 600 of Southern California's best restaurants have worked with Healthy Dining; more than 6,000 menu items have been analyzed for nutrition content.

In 1999, a landmark 3-year research grant was awarded to Healthy Dining by the California Department of Health Services to promote healthier restaurant dining in the region. Anita has directed the Healthy Dining project from its inception in 1991 into a dynamic and growing program in Southern California. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
