5.0 out of 5 stars The best nutrition resource for pregnant women, December 6, 2006
I absolutely love this book. I read it cover to cover, but I also refer back to it regularly as my pregnancy progresses and more specific concerns arise. It has a great recipe section which gives wonderful ideas for healthy (and easy) meals, and it really helps you to plan out what to eat to ensure that you are getting everything that you and your growing baby need. I also really like the section in the end which gives you a check-list to ensure that you are covering all of your nutritional bases on any given day.
I have had a lot of random concerns about nutrition (for example- will it cause my baby to have a peanut allergy if I eat peanut butter while pregnant? How can I absorb more iron in my diet without taking extra supplements? What is the right amount of weight to gain during the different trimesters, How do I meet my nutritional needs when I have severe food aversions in the first trimester, just to name a few!) and they have all been thoroughly addressed in this book.
I could not recommend this book more highly!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very thorough, well-written, full of information, April 2, 2007
By Sunflower Summer (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
This is the best book I've read on nutrition during pregnancy. It covers all of the everyday nutrition needs, and gives extra info on special situations that may arise during pregnancy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Standard Boring Unhelpful Nutritional Advice, December 10, 2008
The book has the standard American pregnancy diet advice. Low fat diet. The emphasis of foods to be eaten is unfortunately on fruit and grains. I think the recipes are too much sugar. They also promote using soy products and regular salt, these things are not healthy for pregnant women.

Review is by Ramiel Nagel author of Healing Our Children: Because Your New Baby Matters! Sacred Wisdom for Preconception, Pregnancy, Birth and Parenting (ages 0-6) & Cure Tooth Decay: Heal and Prevent Cavities with Nutrition (First Edition).

1.0 out of 5 stars Not as Healthy as it Sounds
I am very disappointed in this book. It has some useful information about how much weight to gain and at what pace, as well as a section on how the body uses nutrients. Read more
