This book has been really helpful to me. I'm a big guy and many of the eating plans I've tried leave me starving within half an hour after I've eaten. With the whole grain recipes in this book, I actually feel like I've eaten something substantial even though the meals are low calorie and high fiber. I don't have to walk around the office coveting other peoples donuts 20 minutes after I've eaten. I've been losing weight on a regular and steady basis now for about 8 weeks. I''ve just bought the author's two other books, and am going to incorporate more of her ideas into my life. Kudos to Ms. Hollier for actually creating something livable.

I got this as a gift from a concerned friend, as I have horrible eating habits. I am probably the only person for whom Hostess going out of business is life changing.
I have to say some of these recipes are SOOO delicious I am eating well despite myself. The really good news is that I find I have more energy all day, and I'm not as ravenous at lunch OR dinner as I used to be. I look forward every morning to the oatmeal with vanilla soymilk ... I've experimented with adding dried fruit and honey or fresh fruit to the mix!
Best of all, the recipes are easy to follow and in-expensive to make. I'm a new fan, go Judith!!

If you are working for a HEALTHY DIET THEN THIS BOOK WILL HELP YOU TOWARD THAT GOAL. It has several good recipes to use in cooking whole grains

This is nothing more or less than a collection of recipes with a "whole grains are good for you" blurb tacked on to the beginning. Nothing about the history or properties of each grain, no discussion of the other non-grain ingredients, hardly anything about the recipes themselves besides the ingredients list and how-to. If you are looking for a comprehensive book about cooking with whole grains, this is not it.

Most of these recipes look delicious. I'm definitely planning to try several of them as the weather gets cooler and my kids want a hot breakfast again.

One important note: the Banana Bread recipe is marked as being gluten free. It is NOT gluten free. She includes whole wheat flour as the second ingredient! I repeat, the Banana Bread is NOT GLUTEN FREE!

Hi, I'm Judith Hollier. I've been a corporate woman, a full-time mom, and CEO of a small whole grain cookie company. I am a graduate of New York University, where I studied anthropology and marketing. My ideas about food and health are synthesized from years of studying health issues in our society.

I've been an avid exerciser for over 20 years. I walk or run daily, regardless of weather.

My other passion is for cooking. I started with basic baking at the age of 5 and have been experimenting ever since. Over the years I've developed my own eclectic style of healthy meal creation that draws bits and pieces from other cultures and my own studies.

I am married and have one daughter.
