Important points:

Amounts matter * We need our brain in the game * Discipline reaps rewards * Exercise (play) is essential * Rest is needed * It is not about restrictions * Variety leads to perseverance and success * The family that plays together, stays together * God is our Rock and Redeemer

This book is about hope, not only for a healthy life but a life of meaning and purpose.

Rather than looking at your weight, understand your Body Mass Index (BMI).

In this day and age, personal responsibility seems to be a lost 'art.' Many times it is somebody elses fault. You can blame the fast food restaurants for serving unhealthy food but the reality is, you do not have to eat it! Parents, it is up to us to guide our families in a healthy lifestyle. Kids are there and watching. As parents we are the ones responsible for healthy choices and setting the right example."Find the courage to start on a path to health for you and your family."

Each chapter is summarized in helpful Fat Proof Points at the end.

Chapter 4 - Nutrition Basics talks about the basic food types. Most of us know that proteins "are the building blocks for muscles, tissues and organs." A complete protein contains all nine essential amino acids that our bodies cannot make on their own. Did you know that an egg is the highest quality food protein there is?

What do you call someone on a 'No Fat Diet?' Dead! Fats are essential! How about vitamins? If you are eating a healthy diet you should not need to purchase and consume vitamin supplements.

The Bible is our owner's manual. Do not be afraid/ashamed to read 'the instructions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book April 23, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read this book almost in one sitting it was so excellently written. The author is very balanced in his approach, showing how important healthy habits and lifestyle are in parents in order for their children to grow into healthy adults as well. I would recommend it to anyone, especially Christians who want to base their healthy lifestyle on principles gained from Scripture.
