I am NOT a "medical professional", I would not want to be associated with the majority of them ;-)

March 21, 2008 we learned some harsh lessons of the Medical Mafia and Big Pharma when my husband experienced death while in the care of a medical team. After he was resuscitated my husband was given 2 weeks or less to live, we're now at 34 months at the time of this review. Obviously we are doing something right!

We fired *all* of our former doctors and went hunting for a new team of doctors. Our new Primary Care (MD who was a former rocket scientist at NASA therefore believes in "diagnostics"!) ran extensive labs on both of us and discovered we both had, among other notable deficiencies, very low levels of Vitamin D. My deficient lab results were a surprise since I am often in the sun and I *rarely* use sunblock.

Over the course of approximately 4 years and quarterly followup testing, we have found to maintain proper levels of Vitamin D (~ 80 nmol per many published reports) we both need to take upwards of 20,000 IU / day of vitamin D DAILY in the summer and frequent spikes of 30,000 - 40,000 IU / day through the winter to maintain the proper levels of Vitamin D. Hence the 10,000 IU softgels in this 360 count bottle is a GREAT value and convenience for us.

Prescription Vitamin D softgels often contain FD&C Blue 1 - the FDA issued warning about this petroleum based food dye having been linked "causally" to FATALITIES. I am highly sensitive to FD&C Blue 1 (extreme IBS type symptoms with even the slightest amount consumed or absorbed) so I am NOT able to take RX Vitamin D supplements without experiencing adverse reactions to the petroleum derived artificial food color.

Use "Izik" - a new web browser for Android devices and for IOS. Do a search for "Benefits of Vitamin D3" and start reading. I could go on for days about the stuff, but there's no room. Think about it like this: left to itself, your skin (uncovered) will make from 20000 to 30000 units of D3 in a fairly short time; maybe 30-60 minutes. But none of us ever get that much. Estimates are that 95% of the US population is deficient. This is *not* a recommendation for any person, just what I do; I take 40000 units per day. I don't get colds and flu, tho everyone around me is sick all the time. Lots of grandkids, you see ... And there are a multitude of other benefits. Doesn't logic tell you that you ought to have the same general amount as your body is designed to make each day?

Ok, so my husband experienced some depression this winter, it was the worst he's ever experienced it. His therapist mentioned that she's taking a high dose of Vit D. Our city doesn't get a lot of sunshine and we're in the MS belt, so we figured 20,000 would be a good start. In three days his moods took a total change: he was waking up earlier, his sex drive was back, he started singing in the morning. Our 3 year old keeps saying "Daddy's in a good mood!". Life has had it's challenges with unemployment, injury and strained family relationships, but he's not losing his peace over it anymore! I am so grateful for what Vitamin D is doing for us.

I had labs done to check my Vitamin D levels and it came in very low -- around 18. The normal range was 30-100. My doc told me to start taking vitamin D. He put me on 2000iu per day. More labs later and that barely got me to 32. I wanted to be in the upper third of the range. I started taking 30,000iu's per day. Checked again after a few months and my vitamin D was up to 130! This stuff works. I backed my dose down to 10,000iu's per day. I got blood work again and my vitamin D came in at 88. Perfect!

The gels are small and easy to swallow. No bad taste or burps later. Great price. You can't go wrong selecting this product. And for what it is worth, I haven't caught a cold in the one year I have been using this product.

My husband has been under 5 different hbp medications for years. All four prescrition drugs had to be taken to lower his bp (200/105) (ccb, diuretic, AEC angiotensin, alpha and betha blockers). We read that many black American hbp is related to deficiency in vitamin D. My husband had his vitamin D level checked, which was below the normal range. His doctor told him there is no reason to be concerned about and that it couldn't be related to his issue. No recommendation for vitamin D supplement follows. But we ordered this 10000 ui supplement which my husband takes twice a day making 20000 iu/day, together with the prescription drugs. After couple of days his blood pressure was so low that he was able to get rid of two prescriptions, which was not the case for the last 7 years. His doctor still refuses to believe the necessity of vitamins d3 supplement, but it doesn't matter. After couple of months and adding potassium, magnesium and l arginine to his diet, he is now only on 1 diuretic pill and 1/4 of ccb (calcium channel blocker) a day. His blood pressure/ puls is now 130/70/ 70, which is better than with the 4 prescriptions (140/80/60). We thank the Lord for all He has provided in the nature for us without side effects.
