I was hoping for more vegetarian recipes or lean meats (more poultry and fish) . There are quite a few beef recipes that are very similar to traditional slow cooker recipes that merely substitute lower fat ingredients. I was really hoping to see new, imaginative recipes that aren't in my crock pot recipe books. There are some useful tips at the beginning, but nothing that regular users of slow cookers don't already know about.

A big plus, though, is that the author includes the nutrition facts for each recipe which is very helpful for those watching their caloric and fat intake. Most meals in the book fall into the 150 - 300 calories range. Personally, I prefer to eat leaner at night, and would have liked more 100-200 range meals.

An additional note: The book could have used an additional round of proofreading before publication. As an English teacher, I noticed multiple typos and missing words.

Ms. Ross is generous in giving readers advice on using a cooker. For instance, she details how to tell what size your slow cooker is, how to plan ahead for cooking, and which temperature - high or low - works best in regards to time. When it comes to cooking, I appreciate any advice I can get!

What I also appreciate about this recipe book is that Ms. Ross offers healthy meals in it. We're living in times where food isn't the healthiest. The least thing you eat will affect you to the point of weight gain. However, her recipes are not only delicious, but also healthy. And that's another matter: healthy food not being delicious. Ms. Ross proves to us with these recipes that healthy food can be delicious - even with a slow cooker!

I'm very interested in trying the spicy pulled chicken recipe. I love chicken, and I really love it when it's spicy. Whenever food is slow cooked, it's definitely more flavorful, so I can imagine this recipe being one that's eye-rolling, lip smacking good! I can't wait to try it.

If you own or contemplating getting a slow cooker, this book is a must-have for healthy and delicious cooking with a slow cooker.

No heavy starches or fatty stocks here! Not all of the meals are gluten free (no claim of it, just for reader knowledge), but overall, a very low carb book of flavorful, frequently tomato based recipes. If you're avoiding nightshade family food, probably not for you.

This is a great cookbook for a new slow cooker user who wants to eat healthy food like myself.

It starts with useful tips and information about slow cookers, like safe cooking times and temperatures and how to enhance the flavor of your dishes in a healthy way. The directions are easy to follow and it has nutrition facts for each recipe.

I've already cooked two chicken recipes from this cookbook (spicy BBQ pulled chicken, and the tender Asian chicken with sesame and ginger) and they were delicious. I can't wait to try the remaining ones, specially the beef and the dessert recipes.

This cookbook has a great variety of recipes and I think they are really simple to make.

All around, I'm really satisfied with this cookbook. :)

Simple recipes to follow. My only problem is the kindle download copy does not show the title listed above each recipe. It's necessary to refer to the table of contents to know what you are cooking. :-(

Anything I can do in the summer months that doesn't include turning on the oven is great.
I have found a few recipes that we like and will try others.
I also have used the recipes for pot lucks so I don't have to be concerned about keeping the food hot.

I am always on the look-out for recipes that have no additives or processed foods. All these recipes fit the bill. Though I don't usually like recipes with more than five ingredients, most of the extra ingredients in these recipes are spices, which will enhance the flavors!! A plus is using a crock pot, which makes for an easy meal prep!
