Here's a cookbook I'm happy to have downloaded. I've never given much thought to using whole grains in my homemade soups (which is kind of funny, as I really enjoy a bowl of beef with barley soup), but it actually makes perfect sense.

Whole grains are nutritional powerhouses, are mostly inexpensive, and add texture and body. This book includes recipes that call for grains like quinoa, farro, spelt, and triticale berries. I'll admit that in all my years of cooking I've never heard of triticale berries (a grain, despite the funny name), but a quick check of the internet reveals that most of these grains should be fairly easy to find locally - although sadly not necessarily at the nearest supermarket. That's fine - I'm willing to traipse to the natural foods store to prepare some of these appealing recipes.

I also like the sensible way this book is organized. It has a clickable table of contents, the recipes are well laid out, and the instructions are straightforward and coherent. You'd think that all cookbooks would be this way, but that's not always the case.

I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase. All the recipes are very easy to follow and the end results are great. This is a good read with easy to follow recipes. My favorite is the Mushrooms and Wild Rice Soup. Great soup recipes to make on a cold winter day.

I like grains, REAL grains not modified. This has just covered most of the grains I can get that are not modified. Wonderful recipes. I especially liked the bean soup recipe!!! (of course there are many but I suggest you try them all)
