I Hear,

This review is from: I Hear (Baby Beginner Board Books) (Board book)
I found the book to be very enjoyable for not only my children but also myself. I have found as with all Helen Oxenbury books they are bright and colourful to catch a childs attention. These books will be enjoyed for generations as I was first introduced to Helen Oxenbury books in 1985 when my eldest son was born, and I have passed them down to my younger children and they are having as much pleasure as he did.

Nice Book But a Bit Old Fashioned,

This review is from: I hear
I bought I HEAR on the recommendation of a Montessori educator I very much respect. They highly recommended Helen Oxenbury's series of four books about the senses.
The illustrations are nice, and the design (one picture per page with two pages for each word) is great for learning to read and enjoy books. The one downside to this book is that out of six words, two are dated choices for "sound" words (which means that your baby is not likely to see/hear a real world example). One of those is "watch." The watch shown is an analog watch, with the expected sound is "tick tick." However, everyone I know has a soundless watch, either quartz or digital. Less annoying is the fact the the telephone shown has a rotary dial. It's a nice book, but I HEAR is not a book my 10-month-old son pulls out to read very often. Our 22-month-old friend does not get excited about this one, so the appeal may be limited to younger babies.

ANOTHER BIG HIT!,
By S. Barnes "C's mommy" (Va. Beach, VA) - See all my reviews

My son absolutely loves this book. It's simple with only one word per page, but I make the noise that he would hear with each picture, and he enjoys that. It's one of his favorites and the price is right! It has also held up well so far!

I love this book because it is simple and focuses on the senses...which young children are really experiencing and its just concise and very nice:) Little ones love it.

These simple board books by Helen Oxenbury are great. The little ones who are learning the names of things love them. I purchased them for a grandchild, who loved them so much that when she outgrew them, they were saved for the next baby in the family. They were so loved that they were loved to death. I finally replaced them for grandchild number 4. When the new ones came, the 2 year old sat down with his baby brother, to "read" them to him.
