Greater intimacy with Jesus, December 13, 2007
This review is from: How to Hear God's Voice (Paperback)
I would like to make a few comments in reference to the review that called the Virkler book "New Age" and asserted that it was like consulting the Ouija board. First of all, I wonder if that reviewer has actually done any of the journaling exercises as taught in this book. Have they taken a month or two of daily writing according to these principles and been able to find out for themselves what it is all about? Or did they just read the book and make a Big Pronouncement after that superficial encounter?
In regard to the "New Age" criticism-Virkler quite clearly addresses this issue and defines quite plainly how this approach is very different. In addition, when doing the journaling, one is to have at least two other knowledgeable, Spirit-led Christian advisors to make sure that everything being received is in line with scripture and not veering off into other, darker realms of spiritual access.
If one's view of Christianity is one of theological knowledge and discourse, or in other words "the head", then this kind of angle will be offensive and seem wrong. But if your view is more that it is an affair of "the heart", that Jesus calls us to intimacy with him, that he wants us to be his (in the spiritual sense) "lover", then the journaling techniques taught in this book are an invaluable tool in creating that close, personal, "drinking from his mouth", kind of relationship to which he calls us. To dismiss it as New Age is unfair and frankly, untrue. It would be wrong if it discouraged a seeker from learning something that could make all the difference in his/her spiritual life.

This book will help you to open the eyes of your heart., February 2, 2007
This review is from: How to Hear God's Voice (Paperback)
This book helped me to hear God's still small voice inside my heart. It's well crafted and focuses on Jesus. Therefore I can highly recommend it to anybody who wants to be closer to God and live in the unity with YHWH (John 17)
For the sceptics there is a good part about the difference between new age and Christianity.

Great Book, January 12, 2007
This review is from: How to Hear God's Voice (Paperback)
This is a wonderful and systematic way of working through random thoughts in order to align them up to scripture and God's presence in order to sense and know God's voice, direction and nearness. I loved his video series and I have learned to hear God in the midst of some sticky business situations. I have heard the voice of God in ministry situations that were life changing to me as well as the person I was ministering to. Many times the Lord has stopped me in what I was doing to call someone or go somewhere that I would normally have thought was unusual. But, I've done these things the Lord impressed on my heart and have seen many miracles. I didn't really like the stuff on diet as much, but I'm sure there is some truth to it.
I would recommend this book, Mark and Patty's ministry to anyone. Oh, except people like the any others who feel it necessary to be the self-appointed police of the Body of Christ and knock others. Anyone who has the patience to slow down, get in to God's presense, shove other thoughts out and be in His Word, can hear God. Maybe some more than others, but I've seen it over and over that those who are hungry for Him, will have their hunger satisfied. Sound familiar?
