Homilies are meant to be heard
Father Burghardt composes excellent homilies, and although I'm not a homilist, just a "Hearer of the Just Word", I would suspect that they would be very useful for instruction for homilists. For those of us who "listen" though, the homilies are only moderately useful as reflections on the Word. I got a very strong sense, as I was reading some of the homilies,...

For those of us who "listen" though, the homilies are only moderately useful as reflections on the Word. I got a very strong sense, as I was reading some of the homilies, of how important it is to "hear" the homily as well as read it. |
