I reviewed this book for the publisher. It is a deceptively simple and deeply wise book. It combines basic skills of listening with a clear grasp of the rich inner world of persons being listened to. It is well worth the reader's time.

I used this book for the students in my seminary class on Pastoral Counseling. I was sold on the title, then enthusiastic about the analogy Justes drew between the Biblical value of hospitality and the gift of listening deeply and from the heart. My students enjoyed reading it and found the practical exercises very useful. Read it! Use it in class! Very worthwhile.
