Book Description

April 16, 2002
A fresh, biblical approach to discovering God’s perfect plan for your life.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” --John 10:27

The God who created the universe--and who numbers the hairs on your head--has a specific plan for your life. But before you can follow that plan, you must know what it is--especially in the “gray areas” that Scripture doesn’t directly address:

•Who should I marry? Or should I marry at all?
•Is this job offer the best for me? Am I even in the right field?
•What ministry am I best suited for?
•What’s the best educational option for my children?

The list grows longer and the questions only get harder. To compound the confusion, you are likely to receive contradictory advice from different sources on how to determine God’s will. But now, in Hearing the Master’s Voice, well-known pastor and author Dr. Robert Jeffress guides you back to the Bible to show you how God makes His plans known to His children--and how to act on those plans. Jeffress shows you the difference between God’s voice and your own personal desires. He explains whether you should ask God for a “sign.” And he encourages you in those times when God seems silent.

In an age when you face more choices in life than ever before, Hearing the Master’s Voice provides clear, encouraging guidance for knowing, understanding, and acting upon God’s will for you.
Inside: The Barna Research Group’s specially commissioned national opinion study of Americans’ views on finding God’s will.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book By Jeffress Facilitates Static Removal, April 27, 2001
Author Robert Jeffress has done it again! In "Hearing the Master's Voice", he brings his usual fresh style and doctrinal precision to bear on the weighty and often confusing issue of the will of God. Readers will find helpful insights in all ten chapters. Of particular significance, however, are the chapters on what one can know and will never know about the will of God and what one can know when he or she has made the wrong decision. This book can assist readers in correcting inaccurate ideas and false perceptions about how one can know God's will. They can think of it as a tool for removing static from their own lines of communication with the God who is always there.

5.0 out of 5 stars youth pastor reviews newest book on knowing God's will, April 24, 2001
As a local youth pastor I loved the practical way the issue of knowing and discovering God's will was handled by Robert Jeffress. I have read numerous books through the years on this subject, and i would rate this book as one of the best ever, and probably the best book in at least 10 years to come out on this subject. One of the most often asked questions among teenagers is ,"how do I find God's will for my life?" This book does an amazing job of simply and yet thoroughly answering that question. It is also a great book to teach, because it is so clearly outlined, easy to follow, and practical. Anyone can take this book and teach it in any setting.I think that every youth minister, and pastor for that matter, could teach a series using this book with their people. Again, the book was great for me personally, as well as being useful in teaching it to others, and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I've read in a long time!, October 26, 2001

(VINE VOICE)
How do we know God's will for our lives? How do we listen? How does He speak to us? Are we doing something wrong? Does God REALLY care about the small details of our lives here on earth?

These are big questions and so essential to our Christian lives. There are LOTS of books on knowing God's will. I haven't read them all (but I've read a lot of Amazon reviews on them! <grin>), but THIS book is really helpful. Rather than a giving a set prescription or magic formula to pray to find out God's will, Robert Jeffress takes us through Bible passages that tell us that God DOES care about us, even the little things.

The author talks about the different ways we can hear from God. Feeling confused because you've been praying for God to speak to you? How about looking around at your circumstances? God works through those too!

I can't begin to summarize this book. You see, I'd checked it out from the public library, and over a period of weeks (yes, there were overdue fines - I should've just bought it!), I took voluminous notes on it. I didn't want to miss a single important point, so I've got it all written down. No doubt I'll be going back to those notes and again and again and eventually I'll buy my own copy of this book!

So read this book - it's informative, easy-follow, and enjoyable to read. You might want to check out my other reviews of Christian books and music.
