This review is from: Hearing The Measures: Shakespearean And Other Inflections (Paperback)
This is one of the best books about rhythm available anywhere. Wright is a expert on Shakespeare but comments with equal perspicacity on other authors and offers a model for literary analysis. His essay on the present tense in lyric poetry, which he calls "the lyric present," is very original and importand -- and not nearly so widely known as it ought to be.
