I lived in the East Village in Manhattan, with a bedroom that faced onto a busy street and a flatmate who loved watching TV at extraordinary volumes late into the night. I tried many different earplugs, and these were the ones that let me sleep through the night. They're fantastic at blocking sound, they don't fall out like some smaller-profile plugs, and they don't hurt the ear canal the way some large plugs can. Highly recommended. The larger pack is nice because, like all disposable earplugs, these do get less effective (and somewhat gross) after a couple of nights' use.

I had been using Hearos' Ultimate Softness series earplugs for sleeping, which were good, but the Xtreme Protection series has them beat for both comfort and noise blocking. They are slightly thicker and softer than the Ultimate Softness earplugs, but are just as easy to roll up and insert, if you follow the directions. (And unlike the Pretty in Pink series, they do not expand before you can manage to fit them into your ear.) The Xtreme Protection earplugs have eliminated the uncomfortable pressure that I occasionally experienced with the Ultimate Softness series, and seem to block out noise a little bit better. I recommend these for quiet and comfort.

If you're using this type of earplug for the first time, don't be discouraged---it takes a little time and practice to get the hang of inserting them properly for the best results. Stick with it, and you'll be rewarded with more comfortable sleep.

After trying many earplugs during the last 30 years, I have to say that these are the best I've found. They are soft enough to be very comfortable, yet firm enough to hold in place and block the sound. You simply roll the end into a cylinder and insert it into your ear. The noise reduction rating is 33, and they do, indeed, block all but the very loudest noises. The material used is such that you can use them again and again. This makes their price a good investment.

I originally bought these earplugs for a 24+ hour flight, but figured I'd try them out before making my journey. I quickly discovered that the world we live in is a really noisy place, where modern technology produces the background noise for our lives. However, when I put these in the world seems a lot quieter and I am left with only my thoughts. I've use them to take midday naps, to concentrate on work at the office or mute the sound of crying babies on trains and airplanes and to have a legitimate reason not to talk to people around the office whenever I didn't have time to be caught up in lots small talk.Hearos Ear Plugs - Xtreme Protection Series, 14 pr

I have tried numerous hearing protectors and these are the best I have found. Soft, easily compressible, expands to a tight seal in the ear canal,and is very effective at noise control.

Hearos are the best fitting foam plugs I've found so far. To the person who said they fall out -- I've found it helpful to snip off a bit of the smaller end with scissors (it takes some experimentation to find how much to snip) and then roll and insert the larger end into the ear...

I had ordered the Hearos Ear Plugs and was waiting for them to come in the mail. So, in the interim, I purchased a CVS brand, which wasn't worth squat! They simply did not work. Hearos Ear Plugs silenced my husband's tv noise, family chatter and outdoors sounds efficiently so I could get a good nights rest. I usually wake up a minimum of 3 times through a night. With Hearos Ear Plugs I not only sleep soundly, but I don't recall waking up not once through the night. I wake up refreshed and ready to start my day. And I seem to be more alert during the day as well. The plugs are more comfortable and easier to mold into a small enough cone to get into my ears. I have small ears and if I can't pinch them narrow enough it will not give me the right fit. You have to get them completely into the ear canal and allow them to expand to receive the best results. I couldn't do it with the others. Again, the easy molding with the Hearos makes it easier to cone them and get them into the ear canal. And they're VERY comfortable! You can forget that they're there. Love, Love, Love them!!!! Now I can't imagine a night without them. I'm ready to order my next package because I don't want to run out and be without them. Oh yeah....I like them that much!!! AWESOME!!!!

I don't have noisy neighbors, or family members. And I certainly don't have any problems with ambient noise. My issue is this one floor board in my bedroom.

Ever since I moved into my new house, this one floorboard will creak about once every 1-5 minutes. It's not regular enough to tune out and not soft enough to ignore. It just about drove me mad

At the suggestion of my father I tried some different ear-plugs including a very dense, wax-type that molds to inside your ear. Nothing helped. Whats more, if I DID fall asleep, the earplugs would be out by next morning from my tossing and turning. After some internet research, I found the Hearos xtreme to be highly rated. I bought them and will never go back. I no longer hear the board, or anything else for that matter. I highly suggest these to anyone.

One thing I would like to point out is the confusion I had upon putting them in my ears. I had read in the reviews here that these were less comfortable than other ear plugs and some people even said they were uncomfortable. All I can say is that these people must just work for competing companys to Hearos, because these things were VERY comfy. They are made of the very soft and plush foam material that other (far less effective) ear plugs are made of, and they feel...well...they don't feel actually. I completely forgot they were in my ears when I woke up and I thought there was something wrong with them for a minute for how quiet everyone was.

highly recommended, i think i have found my standard for ear plugs. i have used the hearos ultrasoft ear plugs and these are even softer. they are squishier and easier to insert. they also seem like they would last a good amount of time. i have used the regular foam ones and they are definitely harder than both this and the ultra soft versions.

These ear plugs are a bliss. I ordered these to use in office to get rid of unwanted noise created by people excercising there vocal cords on the phone . It helps me in focussing on my work.

These plugs are soft and do not cause any pain even after use for extended duration of time.
